BU IMPACT Project
This project is on hold until further notice, due to a lack of interest in leadership.
The project challenge is two-folded: 1) Graduate and professional students are not trained to work across disciplines, or to collaborate with multi-disciplinary colleagues in meaningful field work experiences, and: 2) Social service delivery in low-income communities is fragmented, superficial (e.g. does not address root causes, but only symptoms), and ultimately most inefficient and ineffective for those who need to most take advantage of these services.
The IMPACT Project is a cadre of pre-professionals from the schools of medicine, law, public health, education, social work and others coming together as a team for two goals: 1. Provide in-depth case-management assistance to Dorchester families 2. Examine the root causes of challenges that become obstacles for low-income families.
