Earth Day at Franklin Park Zoo, Apr. 16

Franklin Park ZooCelebrate Earth Day at Franklin Park Zoo on April 16! Learn more about the incredible animals that call the Zoo home as well as ways everyone can contribute to a healthy planet. Special activities and opportunities will run between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This event is in partnership with Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. Zookeeper Encounters

11:00 a.m.: Meet a zookeeper who cares for the birds inside Bird’s World and ask questions. Meet at the Scrublands exhibit inside Bird’s World.
1:00 p.m.: Meet a zookeeper who cares for the tigers and ask questions. Meet at the tiger exhibit.
2:00 p.m.: Meet a zookeeper who cares for the gorillas and ask questions. Be sure to look for Kambiri, a baby gorilla born at the Zoo on Nov. 3, 2010. Meet at the indoor gorilla exhibit, Tropical Forest.
3:00 p.m.: Learn more about the animals in Franklin Farm and ask questions. Meet at Franklin Farm.

Enrichment Activities

10:00 a.m.: Visit the indoor gorilla exhibit inside the Tropical Forest! The exhibit will be festively decorated with streamers and the gorillas will receive ice treats. Tropical Forest
11:00 a.m.: Wish Anala, the tiger, happy birthday! Tiger exhibit
11:30 a.m.: Watch as Christopher the lion receives a paper mache items filled with treats. Lion exhibit
1:00 p.m.: Watch as the keas receive paper mache globes filled with treats. Kea exhibit, outside of Bird’s World
1:30 p.m.: Stop by the mandrill exhibit and watch as Ushindi, the mandrill, receives an ice treat. Tropical Forest
2:00 p.m.: Watch as the African wild dogs receive paper mache items filled with treats. African wild dog exhibit
2:30 p.m.: Stop by Franklin Farm to watch a zookeeper training session with the Guinea hogs. Franklin Farm

Wildly popular children’s entertainer Su Eaton will perform from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. and from noon to 12:45 p.m. on the grassy area in front of Serengeti Crossing. 103.3 WODS will be onsite from 10:00 a.m. – noon.
