Are you looking for ways to get involved in the community? Do you have some spare time or skills that you would like to use to make Dorchester a better place to live? Does your organization need volunteers to help you achieve your mission? The Volunteer page at MyDorchester is where you can find and promote individual and group volunteer opportunities in the Dorchester area. Everyday, we post opportunities with local clinical and community services organizations. We also send out a biweekly volunteer blast that you can sign up for below. Citizenship Clinic Volunteers Needed!

Want to help people become citizens? Join the MIRA coalition on their FREE Citizenship Clinic day! Help members of the community complete their application for citizenship and finally be recognized as citizens!


As a volunteer you will:

  • Attend a volunteer training to prepare for the clinic
  • Work at one of the clinic stations which include:
    • welcome and registration, participant screening,
    • application assistance,
    • quality control, crowd control and movement through the stations,
    • copying and packaging,
    • information table about local service providers
  • Serve between 9:30am to 4:30pm on the day of the clinic (breakfast and lunch included!)
  • Meet other excited and dedicated volunteers and participants!
  • Help individuals complete their citizenship applications!

Ombudsman Volunteers needed at Ethos!

Ethos is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to elders while promoting independence, dignity, and well-being. Ethos is currently looking for volunteers to fill the position of Ombudsmen.

Ombudsman works closely with the medical staff, the administration and the residents of long-term care facilities. Visit one long term care facility each week and meet with the contact person at each facility.

Duties include:

  • visiting and observing each room
  • interacting with residents to advocate for their concerns
  • reporting any unresolved issues to the Ombudsman Program Manager.

Victory Programs' Revision Urban Farm is currently booking group volunteer opportunities for the 2015 Season (Mid-March - Mid-November). 
Volunteers must be a least 12 and up. They can accommodate groups up to 12 people on Tuesdays - Fridays and ask volunteers to commit to three hours. Volunteer shifts vary by date.

Volunteer with the Franklin Park Coalition on MLK Day!


The Franklin Park Coalition is hosting an MLK National Day of Service event throughout the park and needs volunteers! Throughout the day of service, volunteers will help facilitate a discussion on the importance of talking about race in today's society. Volunteers will also be needed to help clean the park, from clearing invasive species in the forest to picking up litter around the walkways. This event begins at 10AM and ends at 3PM.

Generations Inc. strives to improve the literacy skills of young children through grade 3. We also provide meaningful opportunities for older adults who serve as literacy volunteers in our partner schools and after-school programs.
We are seeking minimum-time AmeriCorps members to serve in Greater Boston's AARP Experience Corps program in Boston. Our partner schools in Dorchester are: Blue Hill Ave Boys and Girls Club, The Dever, Kenny Greenwood and King Elementary schools.

SMCEP Conversation Groups Facilitators

St. Mark Community Education Program, a community-based ESOL and Citizenship program for adult immigrants, is looking for Facilitators for Conversation Groups.
Conversation group leaders facilitate group meetings in which intermediate/advanced adult English language learners practice English conversation. The conversation group facillatator works with 1- 4 immigrants
