Volunteer with SCI Dorchester

Are you looking for ways to get involved in the community? Do you have some spare time or skills that you would like to use to make Dorchester a better place to live? Does your organization need volunteers to help you achieve your mission? The Volunteer page at MyDorchester is where you can find and promote individual and group volunteer opportunities in the Dorchester area. Everyday, we post opportunities with local clinical and community services organizations. We also send out a biweekly volunteer blast that you can sign up for below. Check out some of the opportunities below and if you are looking for more information or have any questions, email our Volunteer Coordinator or call our offices at 617-822-8297.

Be part of Open Streets! I Sept. 28th

Open Streets Open World
On Sept. 28, Circle The City—Open Streets/Open World will close Blue Hill Avenue
to cars and open it up to people. From Dudley Street to Grove Hall there will be
fitness clinics, biking and walking tours, kids’ games, yoga, art activities, live music,
dance classes and much more.

We seek volunteers to help out on the day-of event to help run the information booth,
be street ambassadors, run safety patrols, help coordinate programming, and to survey
participants. After you sign up for one or more shifts, someone from our organization will
give you a call and discuss what you’d like to be involved in, where volunteers will meet,
and when volunteer pre-training sessions will occur. If you’d like to also get involved in >> Read More

Boston International high School Writing Center

WriteBoston currently needs writing tutors to volunteer for 2-4 hours per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Boston International High School. Boston International serves students with limited English skills who are recent immigrants from all over the world. This is a wonderful opportunity for volunteers who are passionate about writing to help students in the Dorchester community who are English language learners.
