Are you looking for ways to get involved in the community? Do you have some spare time or skills that you would like to use to make Dorchester a better place to live? Does your organization need volunteers to help you achieve your mission? The Volunteer page at MyDorchester is where you can find and promote individual and group volunteer opportunities in the Dorchester area. Everyday, we post opportunities with local clinical and community services organizations. We also send out a biweekly volunteer blast that you can sign up for below. Community Outreach Volunteer

MyDorchester is looking for a motivated new volunteer to support our communications work! The selected candidate will help us enhance MyDorchester’s visibility and impact by supporting the maintenance and ongoing development of our community guide. Become part of the team and contribute to our mission of keeping Dorchester healthy, engaged and thriving.  Ideally, the volunteer would commit to volunteering at MyDorchester for a minimum of 4-6hrs/wk.

Holiday Gift Giveaway | Dec 13

Codman Square Health Center is hosting its annual Holiday Gift Giveaway, and they need volunteers both on the day of the event and the week before to wrap presents.  They would greatly appreciate your time on one or more of the following days & times:

Wrapping:
Monday 12/8 – 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Tuesday 12/9 – 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Wednesday 12/10 – 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Thursday 12/11 – 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Generations Inc. strives to improve the literacy skills of young children through grade 3. We also provide meaningful opportunities for older adults who serve as literacy volunteers in our partner schools and after-school programs.
 
We are seeking minimum-time AmeriCorps members to serve in Greater Boston's AARP Experience Corps program in Boston. Our partner schools in Dorchester are: Blue Hill Ave Boys and Girls Club, The Dever, Kenny Greenwood and King Elementary schools.
 
Responsibilities:
Serve as a reliable literacy coach to children in the classroom on one-to-one for an average of 10 hours per week over three days.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Strong commitment to service and to the power of inter-generational relationships.

SMCEP Conversation Group Facilitators

St. Mark Community Education Program, a community-based ESOL and Citizenship program for adult immigrants, is looking for Facilitators for Conversation Groups.
Conversation group leaders facilitate group meetings in which intermediate/advanced adult English language learners practice English conversation. The conversation group facillatator works with 1- 4 immigrants
Time commitment is 1 1/2 hours per week. Training is provided.
