22nd Annual Youth Peace Conference | May 24

The Strand Theater (543 Columbia Rd in Dorchester) is hosting Teen Empowerment's 22nd Annual Youth Peace Conference on May 24 at 6pm. 35 Dorchester and Roxbury teens have been working to create this year's conference. These dedicated teens have put in countless hours to create a dynamic play dealing with social and historical issues, interspersed with original songs, dance, poems, raps and reflections. The quality of their work and the sincerity of their efforts are truly inspiring. 21st Annual Boston Walk for Epilepsy | May 31

Epilepsy New England is hosting the 21st Annual Walk for Epilepsy on May 31 at Pope John Paul II Park! The walk will start at 10am, register as early as 8:30am. Online registration (ending May 29) is $15 and on-site registration is $20. Pre-registration guarentees a T-shirt and BBQ lunch voucher! Franklin Park Improvements | May 21

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invite the public to an update on ongoing improvements to pathways at Franklin Park. The proposed project includes renovations to selected pathways as defined in priority setting meetings back in 2012. If you are a community enthusiast, you won't want to miss this! Dorchester Historical Society BTS | May 18

On May 18, Dorchester Historical Society (195 Boston Street) goes behind the scenes to allow visitors of all ages a peak at spaces in its properties that are not usually open to the public. From 11am to 4pm, anyone and everyone is invited to explore the nooks and crannies... from attics to basements, kitchens to barns... that give the Society's buildings their special character and historical significance.

Carney Hospital (2100 Dorchester Ave) is hosting a free Family Health & Nutrition Fair on May 17 from 10am to 2pm. Franklin Park Kite & Bike Festival | POSTPONED to May 18

Due to the forecast rain the Kite & Bike Festival has been postponed to Sunday, May 18.

 

Come fly a kite! Come ride a bike! Don't miss the 4th Annual Franklin Park Kite & Bike Festival on May 18 from 12pm to 4pm. This is a historic family and community event that has thrived for years!
