Etiquette of Step | April 27

 

Save Our Streets-Boston, Inc (SOS), in conjunction with Boston Centers for Youth & Families, will host their first annual step showcase, Etiquette of Step, at the Madison Park Community Center. The show will begin at 2pm and it will act as one of many ways the city will heal itself and recover. Roughly eight teams, ranging between churches, community groups, high schools and colleges, will entertain and help heal their family, friends and local community with their talents. Boston Shines | April 27

The eleventh annual citywide neighborhood clean-up is happening April 26th and 27th. Over 5,000 volunteers pitch in every year.  Join in again and plant flowers, sweep, rake and pick up trash to make our communities more beautiful.

Celebrating Jazz and Poetry | April 8

 

National Poetry Month and the Smithsonian's Jazz Appreciation Month coincide in April, making it the perfect time for a project that celebrates both. 

Celebrating Poetry and Jazz Together, a collaboration of JazzBoston, New England Conservatory Jazz Studies Chair Ken Schaphorst, and former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, remind us the pairing of poetry and jazz has a long history. 

Hear NEC students read jazz-influenced poems selected by Pinsky, and then perform the music that inspired them. You can even step up and read one of the poems
