Family Fun Event | August 1

On August 1st there will be a huge family summer event going on right in Franklin Park (next to White Stadium). It will be full of activities, food, sports, prizes, dancing and family fun with the community. Come out and start your weekend off right. The fun and games starts at 12 Noon and end at 4PM.

Boston Creates | August 1

This Saturday, the Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture will hold seventeen community conversations as part of  Boston Creates cultural planning process. Sixteen of the Community Conversations will take place in different neighborhoods in  the city and one additional conversation will be dedicated to youth participants.

Operation ABLE | August 17th

Summer is no  break when renewing your career. Operation ABLE offers mature workers 45+ job training, job search and interviewing skills.  New classes are starting August 17, 2015. Mature workers are invited to a free Orientation Session every Wednesday at 10am at 174 Portland Street 5th floor. Since 1982, Operation ABLE has assisted 33,000 job seekers find work. Be one of those people today! 

Classes start August 17, 2015 for:

Franklin Park Art Grove | August 8th - August 9th

Franklin Park Art Grove: August 8-9th from 11am-6pm in Franklin Park Wilderness Picnic Grove. Experience site responsive performative and sculptural work from artists who integrate natural and cultural landscape into their piece following the theme “Endurance.” Come enjoy a weekend of art, performing arts, dance, guided art tours, food trucks, and a panel discussion curated by Barbara Lewis, Director the Trotter Institute for the Study of Black History and Culture.

Flashlight Walk | August 19th

The Boston Police Department will host Flashlight Walk in Savin Hill on  August 19 at 7:30 p.m. Participants will meet on the corner of Rockmere St. and Caspian Way and receives a free flashlight as well as a Hoodsie from the BPD ice cream truck. The walk will be canceled in the event of rain. For more information, contact the Boston Police Neighborhood Watch Unit at 617-343-4345.

First Time Home Buyers Class | Sept. 12 & 26th

Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation is hosting a first time home buyers class for those trying to fufill their dream of owning a house.  You will learn alot from real estate brokers, loan officers, home insurance agents and home inspectors. Topics include Finding a home, learning how to manage the mortage, budgeting and credit, etc. If your interested in buying your first home come to this class !

ESL Conversation Group | August 2nd

If English is not your first language but you are interested in learning it come practice and enjoy learning the language with a conversation group.  Groups are free, open and will help you understand more about your surroundings as well as communicate better in large groups or one on one conversations.

Pee Wee Developmental Program | July 31

Puppet Show | August 4

Boston Parks and Recreation Dept. host marionette puppet show. Participation is free and materials are provided, but young children must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of six or more must make prior arrangements by calling the Boston Parks Department (617) 635-4505).  Bring your kid to enjoy a fun time with professional puppeteers.

Movie Night | August 3

Mayor Marty Walsh's movie night presents "The Lego Movie" on August 3rd at 7 PM. This will be a nice way to end your monday and a great way to start the rest of the week. Come enjoy an amazing movie the kids will absolutely love.
