Neponset/Port Norfolk Reunion, Nov 28

The Neponset/Port Norfolk area is hosting a reunion on Saturday November 28 at Florian Hall (55 Hallet Street Dorchester). This will be a great time to reconnect with your neighbors from the past, as well as current neighbors in the Neponset and Port Norfolk areas you might not know so well. Tickets cost $25/person. First Annual Project D.E.E.P. Holiday Fundraiser, Nov 28

On Saturday evening from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm there will be the First Annual Project D.E.E.P. (The Dorchester Educational Enrichment Program) Holiday Fundraiser. The fundraiser will be at IBEW Local 103 Function Hall, 256 Freeport Street, Dorchester. There will be a silent auction, penny raffle, cash bar, appetizers, entertainment, and gift wrapping station. $5 per person or $10 for a family (up to two adults and unlimited kids). Proceeds to Project D.E.E.P.

Prizes include autographed Patriots player photo, Bruins tickets, Celtics tickets, Portland Sea Dogs tickets, Worcester Sharks tickets, Yankee Candle products, and more.

On Thursday, December 10 at the Golf Clubhouse in Franklin Park (1 Circuit Sq, Boston) from 6:30 to 8:30 pm there will be a great presenation of a new book on Franklin Park. Hear stories and park history from the book's editor, see old photographs from 1880 through today.

If you grew up near Franklin Park, spent long hours there as a child, or have just discovered this lush 527-acre greenspace, you will love seeing old pictures of the Zoo animals, of outings in the picnic groves, and the myriad activities that have brought generations to Franklin Park.

Wainwright Bank Toy Drive, thru Dec 11

The Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy: Christmas with Bobby is the beneficiary this year of Wainwright Bank’s annual toy drive. Neighbors wishing to contribute may drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Wainwright branch in Peabody Square (1910 Dorchester Ave, 02124) during business hours starting Monday, November 23. Last day for drop-off is Friday, December 11.

BMPL is an antiviolence initiative that provides grief counseling for children and adults, holiday celebrations for local children, and the annual Parents’ & Children’s Walk for Peace.

First Annual Standish Village Bake Sale, Nov 24

On Tuesday, November 24 the Standish Village Assisted Living Center in Lower Mills (1190 Adams Street, Dorchester) is having its First Annual Bake Sale! Come purchase homemade goodies from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Annual Tree Lightings, Nov 28

Join in officially welcoming the holiday season at your local Tree Lighting Ceremony! There are 9 different Tree Lightings across Dorchester on Saturday.

The Mayor, The Dorchester Holiday Celebrations Committee and special guests will be riding Santa’s Trolley provided by City View Trolley throughout the villages of Dorchester. Franklin Park Leaf Raking, Nov 21

This Saturday is National Family Volunteer Day! To celebrate this great day of volunteering, enjoy yourself outside along with all your family at the Franklin Park Leaf Raking. All ages welcome and jumping in piles is encouraged! Bring a leaf rake and work gloves, though we'll have aplenty for those without.

The Leaf Raking will begin at 10 am and will meet at the Valley Gates Parking Lot in Franklin Park. There will be raking until noontime or whenever you get sick of it!
