Boston City Singers Magical Night of Music | June 23
South Africa meets Boston as Imilonji Kantu Choral Society and Boston City Singers combine for a special night of traditional and gospel song and dance. Johannesburg, South Africa-based Imilonji Kantu Choral Society have performed at numerous world events including state visits, sporting events, the presidential inauguration of Nelson Mandela and his successor president Thabo Mbeki, and at the enthronement of Nobel Peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The organization’s name loosely translates to “sweet sounds struggle for peace.”
Boston City Singers was founded in 1995 in the Boston neighborhood of Dorchester. Over the last 15 years, programming has grown to include 350 members in a variety of neighborhood-based chorus divisions in Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park, Mattapan and Cambridge. The Tour Chorus division will sing with the Imilonji Kantu Choral Society. Suggested donations at the door for admission to the event are $15 per person or $25 per family.
