Evening Adult ESOL teachers to begin January 2013:
Monday/Wednesday 6:30-9pm, Level 2
St. Mark Community Education Program is both an ESOL and a Citizenship Program. We provide 5 ESOL classes and an English for Citizenship class, evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of working adults. We believe that by improving their English abilities and by attaining citizenship immigrants will gain education, work, and social opportunities and thus strengthen themselves and the communities they live in. SMCEP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Qualifications:
B.A. or M.A. in Education, English, ESL, Applied Linguistics
1-3+ years teaching experience with adult ESOL learners in a multicultural, community-based environment
Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
Experience with technology instruction
Experience with “Next Steps” programs
Commitment to student-centered and participatory pedagogy
Responsibilities include:
Select and develop class material appropriate for program’s curriculum and students’ needs and level
Develop authentic assessments to evaluate students’ progress
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records (assessments and attendance)
Create comfortable environment for adult learning
Conduct organized, well-developed lessons
Contribute and participate in program and staff development
Communicate with Executive Director and counselor about student issues
