Boston Public School Students Need YOU!

Start: 07/22/2008 - 12:00pm

End: 07/22/2009 - 12:00pm

Are you looking for something to break up your work day that
will allow you to give back to your community? The 2008-2009 academic school
year will be here soon and Boston Partners in Education is looking for
volunteers to tutor and mentor Boston
Public School students.
You don’t need any previous tutoring experience to participate—just a
willingness to work with students and help them reach for their highest
potential!

Our volunteers work with one student during the school day
and in some after school and Saturday morning programs for one hour (or more)
each week. Opportunities are available in all grades, K-12, in the areas of
math and literacy. During the application process, we provide training in
mentoring and tutoring, as well as a personal interview and a reference check
to ensure a successful experience.

To register, visit www.bostonpartners.org
and complete the volunteer registration form (click on “For Volunteers” then on
“Registration Form”). For more information, please contact Hillary Chazen,
Recruitment Manager, at (617) 451-6145 or hillary_chazen@bostonpartners.org.

[R]DOT Tots Playgroup

Start: 11/20/2008 - 9:30am

End: 11/20/2008 - 11:30am

Parents and caregivers of children under 5 are invited and encouraged to attend this weekly neighborhood playgroup. It is a great opportunity to connect with other local parents and give your child(ren) an opportunity to socialize with other youngsters. Come for support, conversation, even snacks! We have toys and equipment for children from birth to preschool and everyone is welcome.

Enter the door from the back parking lot and go down to Dunn Hall. There is an elevator for wheelchair and stroller access. Playgroup will not be held when BPS are closed due to inclement weather or other city-wide emergency. We will meet on our regular day during school vacations and summer. Older siblings are welcome at these times.

The playgroup is cooperatively run by the parents involved, with everyone taking joint responsibility for all tasks (providing snacks, maintaining the space, equipment, and supplies, planning special events, etc.) Attendance is free and open to everyone.

For more information, please email Cara Gillis at cara.gillis@comcast.net or call DotTots Playgroup at 617-436-8227.

[R]DOT Tots Playgroup

Start: 11/27/2008 - 9:30am

End: 11/27/2008 - 11:30am

Start: 12/04/2008 - 9:30am

End: 12/04/2008 - 11:30am

Start: 12/05/2008 - 7:00pm

End: 12/05/2008 - 11:59pm

FLORIAN HALL — 55 HALLET STREET — DORCHESTER, MA
COCKTAILS: 7:00 - 8:00 P.M. DINNER: 8:00 - 11:30 P.M.
$150 PER NUMBERED TICKET (ONLY 200 WILL BE SOLD)
$40 FOR ADDITIONAL TICKET WITHOUT A NUMBER

October 13, 2008

Dear Friends and Families of St. Ann’s Parish:

On Friday, December 5, St. Ann’s Parish will be hosting the 26th Annual $10,000 Dinner at
Florian Hall. Net proceeds from the evening support St. Ann’s Parish Youth Programs. In
the last few years, this event has been hosted by St. Ann School but years ago it was a
St. Ann Parish event so the circle continues.

For all the veterans, you know it is a fun-filled evening of food, friends, song and dance in
anticipation of winning $10,000 (or splitting it with your newest and dearest friends in the
final 10)!

Only 200 ticketed numbers are available - making the odds very good in your favor. If you
purchased a number in the past, your special number is still being reserved and you will
receive a call from an event committee member within the next week.

We are reserving a batch of numbered tickets for new guests. If you, or someone you know,
are interested in one or more of these reserved numbers, please call us as soon as possible.
Availability is based on a first-come, first-serve basis so don’t delay!

The cost of a numbered ticket has not increased and remains at $150 which includes dinner
and having your special number in the drawing for $10,000 grand prize. Additional “Spouse/
Friend” dinner guest tickets are available for only $40. Tickets go on sale now so as not to
interfere with your Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday expenses.

Even if you are unable to attend, you can still purchase a Numbered Ticket and we will assign
someone to represent your interests on December 5th.

We hope you will join us in supporting this historic fundraiser for St. Ann’s Parish benefiting
the children of the Parish. Tickets go fast so call us today.

Sincerely,

Melissa J. Graham (617) 265-6700
Tom's Toy Party

Start: 12/06/2008 - 8:00pm

End: 12/06/2008 - 11:59pm

The following is a message from Tom Gannon, President of Tom's Toy Party.

Friends this is not an
ordinary year, but imagine being a young child, who wakes up on Christmas
Day to find Santa has left you nothing under the tree? For the past 10
years we've been able to make sure every baby, child and teenager at the
Club, who needed us to help make their Christmas a little brighter.
The next few weeks are going to be an extraordinary difficult time for so many
kids at the Club from the little ones to the teenagers and in between.

So I'm going to ask you
to do what you've done for the past 10 years and that is to continue to show
these kids that the true spirit of Christmas lives on in the hearts of my
benevolent friends and family. I hope to see and talk with folks at the Toy
Party where we party for a great cause the kids. Something new this year due to
the generosity of a friend (thanks Alex) Tom's Toy Party has a web site. On
the web site you can get details on www.tomstoyparty.org Please go to the
