Name of Event: Historic New England: Historic Toys

Description of Event: How did children have fun before computer chips, batteries, or electricity? Historic New England will be here to help children explore toys and games from the past, discover how they work, and make one to keep.

Name of Event: Franklin Park Zoo Present "Animal Senses" 

Description of Event: Children interact with live animals and experience the world as animals do through activities investigating camouflage, mimicry, and other adaptations designed to trick the senses, enhance natural biodiversity, and improve chances for survival.

Name of Event: Ice Cream Experiment

Description of Event: July is National Ice Cream Month! Join us as we explore the science behind making ice cream. Participants will be able to consume their creations.

Name of Event: Family Film: Frozen

Description of Event: Our Ice Cream Month celebrations continue. Come cool off in our Meeting Room with a viewing of the popular Disney Film Frozen. Popcorn and beverages will be provided.

Name of Event: Caravan Puppets

Description of Event: Join Jonathan Keezing and the Caravan Puppets for "Fizz Boom Read." This program introduces young and early readers to the joys of reading and the natural world.

Name of Event: New England Aquarium: Tide Pools

Description of Event: The tide pools program allows children (ages 6-12) to handle and observe a wide range of live tide pool animals from local waters to help build an understanding of habitats and adaptations. Please call ahead and reserve a spot for this program by calling 617.436.2155.

Description of Event: Express yourself in a welcoming and positive atmosphere with the Books of Hope creative writing program. Write, recite, and perform your poetry while discovering new poets and poems. For teens ages 12-18.

Name of Event: Reptiles!

Description of Event: Experience the wonders of science with this exciting program presented by staff from the Museum of Science. Children will meet live reptiles and observe their fascinating characteristics up close. Recommended for children ages five and up. Each session is limited to 25 participants. Please contact the library to sign-up.

Name of Event: Boston Bikes

Description of Event: Explore how a bike works, the parts of a bike, how to avoid bike theft, and learn tips for safely navigating the city by bike with a team member from Boston Bikes. Attend a workshop and you will be entered into a raffle to win a free bike.

Description of Event: Explore careers in the music industry by learning about different roles in the business, song structure, and the process of making a recording. Try your hand at audio editing and beatmaking with professional technology. For teens, ages 12-18.

Name of Event: "Fizzeology" with Meg Balaconis

Description of Event: Be a scientist. Come experiment with liquids that fizz for family fun in this Mad Scientist Lab program. For children, ages five and up.

Description of Event: Join us for a viewing of the Disney Pixar film Wall*E in our Meeting Room. Refreshments and a take home robot craft will be provided.

Description of Event: A Mass Audubon teacher naturalist will introduce children to the wonders of the natural world through movement, games, stories, and art. Each program offers a different nature-based theme with engaging hands-on experiences. No registration is required.
