DSAC Presents "Learning to Cope" | June 19

Tuesday, June 19th from 6-8pm at the Leahy~Holloran Community Center, Dorchester Substance Abuse Coalition (DSAC) will host “Learning to Cope”, a forum for parents and teens with several guest speakers, including local men and women in recovery and Ms. Joanne Peterson from www.learntocope.org. The Forum’s goal will be to educate, help build skills and offer supportive resources to both youth and parents (parents and teens will be in separate meeting areas).
The Leahy~Holloran Community Center, City Councilor Frank Baker and A.D.S.L. are proud to partner with D.S.A.C. on this important topic. *Interesting stat: Research shows that engaging in sports activities is one of the key protective factors to deter underage drinking/drug use among youth. It is also important to allow the youth to express other interests and things that they like to do both individually as well as collectively e.g sing, dance, poetry, spoken words, music, arts, etc. *
