Public Meetings on MBTA Fare Hikes - Feb. 2

Ashmont T stationThe MBTA is holding public meetings concerning fare hikes and service cuts - please attend the local hearings and make the community's voice heard! 

The MBTA is holding a series of public hearings on proposed fare hikes and service cuts which will affect local transit users, especially those in Dorchester. Significant cuts to service in Mattapan – including weekend service on the trolley – are also in the works.   • January 31, Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Mildred Avenue Community Center, 5 Mildred Avenue
  • February 2, Thursday, two meetings - at 1:00-3:00 PM, and at 6:00-8:00 PM, at Dorchester House Multi-Service Center, Multi-Purpose Room, 1353 Dorchester Avenue

Option 2, with lower fare hikes, proposes the following service changes, among others. Option 2′s fare increases range from 33% (bus), to 50% (subway), to 100% (the RIDE base fare).
 
Bus Route Reductions: Eliminate Routes (all days): 4, 5, 14 (passes thru Grove Hall), 18 (Ashmont-Andrew via Fields Corner), 27 (Mattapan – Ashmont), 29 (Mattapan – Jackson Sq.), 33 (Mattapan – Dedham Line), 37, 38, 40, 43, 45 (Franklin Park Zoo – Ruggles via Blue Hill Ave), 48, 50, 51, 52, 55, 59, 60, 62, 64, 67, 68, 74, 75, 76, 78, 79, 80, 85, 90, 92, 95, 96, 97, 99, 100, 105, 106, 108, 112, 119, 120, 121, 131, 132, 136, 137, 170, 171, 201 (Fields Corner/No. Quincy via FC – Adams St.), 202 (Fields Corner/No. Quincy – Neponset Ave.), 210 (Quincy – No. Quincy or Fields Corner), 211, 212, 215 (Quincy – Ashmont), 217 (Quincy – Ashmont), 230, 236, 238, 240, 245 (Mattapan – Quincy), 275, 276, 277, 325, 326, 350, 351, 352, 354, 355, 411, 424, 428, 429, 430, 431, 434, 435, 436, 439, 441, 448, 449, 451, 456, 459, 465, 468, 500, 501, 502, 503, 505, 553, 554, 555, 556, 558, CT3
 
And Mattapan Trolley Weekend Service would be eliminated.
 
Base fare of The RIDE would increase to 2x CharlieCard fixed-route base price, and MBTA would institute $5 premium fares for non-ADA (outside of fixed route service area, before/after hours, or same day) trips.
