The Freedom House PUSH program works to ensure that all participating Boston High School students have access to the best support networks and resources needed to successfully graduate from 2 and 4 year colleges in the Boston area. The goal of the Success Boston College Completion Initiative is to double the college graduation rate for Boston High School students by 2015. PUSH identifies 20+ Boston Public high school students each year and provides transitional and sustained college support through the following program components: Assistance with college application & financial aid processes, PUSH Summer Institute, and regular on and off campus advising aimed at supporting student success. This collaborative effort provides Boston youth the “PUSH” they need to achieve a college degree.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate weekly contacts with program participants Provide additional support directly to students as necessary Visit college campuses weekly to meet with students and administrators Fulfill all administrative requirements set forth by the initiative, including but not limited to:
o Student documentations collection
o Data entry into Sales Force Database Coordinate and host with BPS partners recruitment activities and information sessions for students and their families. Assist high school juniors and seniors with the college application & financial aid process. Collaborate with the post-secondary education partners in connecting students to campus-based resources Build and strengthen relationships with all post-secondary education partners Coordinate with other Success Boston partners to provide initiative-wide support to all students Collaborate with all Success Boston partners to accomplish initiative-wide goals Attend Success Boston meetings and events to represent Freedom House Coordinate and track student attendance at all Success Boston meetings and events Assist the Program Manager in the overall operations of the program Performs additional duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
BA or an Associates Degree (working toward BA) with at least 2 years work experience in youth development and case management
Demonstrated experience and skills: Effective oral and written communication skills Innovative, works independently and is a team player Analytical and problem solving skills Good organizational skills with the ability of developing time lines and meeting deadlines Able to work effectively with diverse populations Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively Energetic, innovative and able to work both independently as well as part of a team Knowledge of college application & financial aid process
Position requires some evenings and weekends as needed.
