Day 1- Restorative Justice

Restorative justice is a practice growing in popularity as our community seeks conflict resolution techniques that focus on healing instead of punishment. A 1/2 day workshop featuring a design-thinking session and 90-day challenge planning session (participation limited to 30 individuals)

 

Day 2- Connected by H.O.P.E.  

Shifting the conversation by highlighting the assets of our communities that are often overlooked and celebrating our many successes as we work collaboratively to improve the places where we live, work, and play.

Cracking The Codes I November 2, 2016

Learn to recognise systomatic inequality and the ways you may be unknowingly keep it going. Both chalenging and uplifting this program will help to create a better community.

Community Baby Shower | June 15

United Way of Massachusetts Bay is inviting all pregnant and new mom's to their annual Community Baby Shower! Shop, hear from health professionals, meet other moms, get a professional family photo and so much more. Each mom will also bring home a goody bag for her baby!

The Future of MyDorchester | June 2

We’re planning an evening to hear feedback from the community about the relevance, role and future of MyDorchester. We’re hoping to find out how we can continue to shape the website/program to best serve the neighborhood - whether that’s changing how the site is managed, what is on the site, whether to have a website at all, who we should be listening to and working with.

Age Friendly Dorchester | September 10th

On September 10th Mayor Marty Walsh will be hosting a "listening session" for those 50+ to discuss what could better the community or how could the neighborhood be a better place as they become older.

Community Expo | August 22

Join New England United for justice on August 22nd for their 2nd annual community expo expo starting at 12 Noon. There will be plenty of games, give aways and prizes while participants support local businesses in the community.  It's all about supporting each community and the businesses who serve them

FREE Community Carnival! | June 27

It's carnival time!!! What better way to celebrate summer than a FREE Community Carnival! Come by for games, bouncy houses, face paint, prizes, food, music, and more! All ages welcome! Put on by Bethel Tabernacle Pentecostal Church!

EXERCISING IN YOUR COMMUNITY Our meeting, facilitated by Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition, will review fitness opportunities you can look for in your neighbor-hood, best practices for how to get members of your community active, and give you the opportunity to exercise with a great group of people! Peace Walk and Rally | June 16

"Let there be Peace on Earth and let it begin with us." The community will come together to walk and rally for peace on our streets. The walk route begins at Ashmont Station onto corners of Fuller and Washington where the 16-year old boy was killed last week. We will continue to walk up Fuller to Morton Street and onto West Seldon.

A candle-light vigil is also to take place for the 7-year old girl killed on her bike on West Seldon Street. The walk will proceed through Norfolk Street to New England and Talbot Avenue. 

A 3rd candlelight vigil will take place for the 18-year old young man hit and killed on his bike.

All are encouraged to attend.
