Community Beautification Planning Meeting | July 23

Please join St Mark's Area Main Street (SMAMS) for a community meeting on Wednesday, July 23 from 6:30-8:00pm to brainstorm creative ways to beautify our neighborhood business district. KidsFest | March 15

BEFF presents KidsFest at the Adams Street Library located at 690 Adams Street, Dorchester,Saturday, March 15 from 11am - 12:30pm. This event is suitable for children five and up. Come see funny and beautiful animations for kids. One hour of short films about our planet followed by a hands-on, take-home activity. Although registration is not required, there are limited seats for this free event. Children that will be participating must be accompanied by an adult.

Valentine's Day Tribute to the Ladies | February 14

Friday, February 14 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., Lorenz Island Kuisine will host their Valentine's Day Tribute to the Ladies.

It will be held at Lorenz Island Kuisine 657 Washington Street. Music by DJ Steel and Brave Prince.

There will be a lovely romantic evening with a Caribbean vibe, great people and good food. Tickets can be purchased at Lorenz Island Kuisine 657 Washington Street, Codman Square, Dorchester, MA.

Ticket prices are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

On Sunday, February 16 at 11:00am, the Viet-AID will host its annual TET-Lunar New Year Celebration at 42 Charles Street, Dorchester, to welcome the Year of the Horse! Through Our Eyes Opening Reception | January 23

On Thursday, January 23, 2014, between 6 – 7:30pm, the Grove Hall Branch of the Boston Public Library will host the Through Our Eyes Opening Reception event at 41 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.

This exhibit features work by Elliot Lee. These photographs of Roxbury and Dorchester landscapes explore the history of gentrification in Boston and its impact on our community.

Patricia Patti Lee is a photographer who was born and raised in the South End and recently transplanted to Upham’s Corner, Dorchester. Her father Elliot Lee left her his works in slide and print form. His pictures cover the early ’70s to the late ’90s and include skylines, street scenes, and portraits. As a social worker, he was interested in murals, advertising billboards, and the many faces of the city.

Identity Theft Program | January 30

Thursday, January 30 at 6:30pm, the Better Business Bureau’s Identity Theft program will cover the most common tactics that identity thieves are using to obtain our personal information, and the precautionary steps we can take in our everyday lives to protect ourselves.
