2nd Annual Dorchester House Swim Down Challenge | March 22

 

Please help the Dorchester House Stingrays Swim Team raise funds to compete in Cary, North Carolina this spring. The 2nd Annual Dorchester House Swim Down Challenge Anyone wishing to swim against Stingray members in a friendly competition is welcome 

When: Friday, March 22, 2013 @ 5:30pm (Warm-ups at 5:00pm)

Where: Dorchester House Multi-Service Center Swimming Pool, located at 1353 Dorchester Ave. (the DH pool is located in the rear of the building)

Why: To help send our swim team to compete in the 11th National Black Heritage              Swim Meet in Cary, North Carolina!

Dorchester House Water Aerobics | Jan. 23 to Feb. 14

The Dorchester House Multi-Service Center is hosting a Water Aerobics class for adults. This 4 week course will begin on January 23 and end on Febuary 14. The morning classes will go from 9am to 10am and the evening classes will go from 7pm to 8pm. Lessons are 60 minutes long. Sign up dates are Monday-Friday from 12:00pm to 6:30pm starting on January 8. Participants will be registered on a first come first serve basis. Job Readiness Workshop | Jan. 23, 30 + Feb. 6

 

Don't miss the Job Readiness Workshop provided by Dorchester House! This three-session workshopw ill cover the job search process, specifically:

  • Writing a resume, cover letter, and thank you letter
  • Applying to jobs electronically
  • Interviewing
  • Networking
  • Acquiring References
  • Building confidence

Kids with Asthma Can Swim

 

Kids with Asthma Can Swim (Starting October 18th, every Wednesday and Thursday 4:00-6:00pm, until January 3rd).  Kids with Asthma Can Swim is a FREE program combining asthma education and swimming lessons to improve the health and well-being of children with asthma. Masquer-Aid Ball | Oct. 26

On Friday, October 26, Dorchester House presents the second annual Masquer-Aid Ball! The ball will take place at the Venezia Waterfront Restaurant from 7pm to 11pm. Let's Get Ready envisions a world where students from all socioeconomic backgrounds have equal access to the support they need to reach higher education. Their mission is to expand college access for motivated, low-income high school students by providing FREE SAT preparation and college admission counseling.

Change in the Air, March 28

Are you interested in breathing cleaner air and preventing asthma? You are invited to attend a community forum concerning the change in Boston's air quality with National Environmental Health Official Linda Birnbaum, PhD and local panelists. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the forum will be from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dorchester House Multi-Service Center, located at 1353 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. Light refreshments will be available! Seniors' Luncheon on Community Health and Safety April 17

Dorchester House Multi-Service Center will be hosting the first ever Seniors' Luncheon, which will include an informative discussion about community safety and health. Speakers will include a representative from Police Station Area C-11, as well as a Dot House provider. The event, taking place from 11:00a.m. to 12:30p.m., is free, and lunch will be served! It will take place in the multi-purpose room of Dorchester House. Dorchester House is located at 1353 Dorchester Avenue. Dorchester House Children's Holiday Party Dec. 10

Dorchester House will be holding their 19th Annual Children's Holiday Party on Saturday, December 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The party is due to be a fun time, and is free for all children ages 1 - 10 years old! There will be Holiday Craft Tables, Face Painting, Games, Holiday Treats, and last but not least, Santa and his Elves! This event is for pre-registered only, you must register to visit Santa & receive a gift. A ticket is required for each child, and the number of children who receive gifts is limited to 600. Haunted Health Center Canned Food Drive Oct. 27

Dr. Dorchester will be taking over the GNA teen center on Thursday, October 27th, 2011. He has a sweet tooth for fun and frights, and will be hosting the Haunted Health Center Canned Food Drive! The event will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and admission is one canned good. Of course, you can bring more if you want! Baked goods and other canned food items will be on sale for donation as well.
