Haitian Heritage Parade | May 17

Come celebrate Haitian Heritage! The 15th Annual Haitian Unity Parade will take place on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan and Dorchester! More than 200 local organizations, schools and businesses from all over New England are expected to participate in the event, which can draws tens of thousands of people.

Haitian Heritage Celebration | May 28

HaitiJoin the Irish International Immigrant Center (100 Franklin Street) on May 28 from 4pm to 7pm in celebrating Haitian Heritage Month! This event emphasizes the importance of countries and cultures within our community. It will include Compa dancing lessons, Haitian-Creole language activities, Haitian trivia, and more! Rise for Haitian Children | August 25

 

Rise for Haitian Children is a non-profit organization that is designed to assist young children who are in need and want an education so they can learn to read and write. The organization will provide children with clothing and food as well. The children the organization helps do not have the necessities to live and survive in Haiti. They do not have the same opportunities that we do. To help support the organization, come to the Nightingale Community Garden on August 25 from 3pm to 8pm for a fundraising festival. Mayor Thomas M. Menino will be hosting a special event on March 24, 2012 at 4:30 p.m., “Ayiti Chérie - from Boston to Haiti: The work continues...”. This event will provide an opportunity to recognize the great work that was done to support Haiti and Boston's Haitian residents following the tragic earthquake of 2010, as well as the work that continues in the City of Boston!
