Mission: 

Neponset Health Center (NHC) provides preventive and chronic medical and behavioral health care to residents in Dorchester and the surrounding communities. All NHC physicians and nurse practitioners are Board Certified or Board Eligible in their specialty.

Neponset Health Center's Food Pantry:
Every Tuesday from 9 am-11 am the Neponset Health Center Food Pantry is open! New clients only need to bring a valid from of identification and proof of state assistance (DTA, Housing, MassHealth). The Food Pantry is located in the health center on the first floor near the back parking lot. For further information call 617-282-3200

Regular meetings are the second Monday of every month, 7-9 pm at the Vietnamese Community Center at 42 Charles Street next to Field Corner T station and special events are frequent.

Mission: 

Our mission is to oppose the war in Iraq and US militarism in general; to build a multi-racial peace movement throughout the neighborhoods of Dorchester; and to work against the war at home, including violence, budget cuts, racism and political repression. Our Model: We're the glue between communities that have and communities that need. We make it simple for children, families, corporations to give their time, treasures and talent to benefit other children in their community. By partnering with social service agencies for distribution, we have a direct channel to serve tens of thousands of children in need each year.

Residents can join one or more of our committees and subcommittees: Design, Promotion, Cleanup, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Fundraising. Or they can get involved with planning our special events or working on our elder-friendly business district.

Key Programs Offered: 

Created Elder Friendly Business District program to improve businesses, infrastructure, access and services to encourage older adults to shop in Fields Corner.

Launched "Don't Spot the Dot" anti-litter campaign with Mayor Menino in April 2007 to promote keeping Fields Corner clean. Distributed brooms and dustpans to 110 businesses in the district. In the second year of the campaign, gave presentations to local area schools and after school programs.

Recruited 10 businesses to participate in the Boston Community Change Card program, a loyalty program for local businesses that gives rebates to cardholders and their chosen nonprofit beneficiaries.

Collaborated with the Dorchester Holiday Celebrations Committee on annual tree lighting event and promoted businesses offering discounts during the holidays.

Organized high-profile annual gala event, Dancing with the Stars of Boston, with celebrity dancers, professional dancers and celebrity judges at UMass Boston.

Co-sponsored successful "Martinis on the Avenue" fundraisers with St. Mark's Area Main Street.

Mission: 

The Leahy-Holloran Community Center is a non-profit organization. The center has been serving the Dorchester Community since October 1973. We serve Pre-Schoolers, children, teens, adults and the elderly. During the academic year we offer Pre-School/K1, childrens' after school activities, adult classes and a teen center. Some of the programs currently available are swimming lessons for adults and children, children’s drawing classes, adult computer classes, sewing lessons, line dancing, water aerobics, adult and children ceramic classes. The name of the Murphy Community Center was changed to the Leahy-Holloran Community Center in 2009.
