Public Annual Meeting| July 13

Codman Square Health Center will host a Public Annual Meeting today, July 13th at 6pm in the Great Hall in Codman Square.  Mayor Marty Walsh, longtime supporter of the Health Center and Dorchester native will adress the crowd. During this meeting some great partners of the Codman Square Health Center, State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and State Representative Russell Holmes will be recognized. Community developements and new relationships with local businesses will be discussed and spotlighted. There will be food and refreshments. Tell a friend, bring a friend!

"Dorchester Rising Stars" Benefit Concert | June 27

Tony Rymer, a native of Ashmont Hill in Dorchester, MA, began playing cello at age five and is a graduate of the Walnut Hill Arts School in Natick, Massachusetts. Tony was a prize winner in the Longy School of Music and New England Conservatory preparatory concerto competitions, the New England String Ensemble competition, and was a finalist in the Stulberg International String Competition in 2008. Tony has studied with Yo-Yo Ma in addition to performing in master classes for artists including Anner Bylsma, Jaime Laredo, and Pieter Wispelwey. Tony attends the New England Conservatory in Boston and studies with Paul Katz as the recipient of the Laurence Lesser Presidential Scholarship. Tony has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras including Nashville Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, and several others.

Phuong-Nghi Pham began piano lessons at the age of five in Vietnam and moved to the United States with her parents in 2004. She studied piano at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, most recently with Heng-Jin Park, as the John C. Holtz Ambassador Award Recipient of the Max Reger Foundation of America. Phuong-Nghi appeared on From the Top at Jordan Hall (2010) and at Calderwood Hall (2014). She is a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist and Young Scholar. As a two-time Prizewinner of the Fidelity Investments Young Artists Competition, she performed with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall in 2011 and 2012. She won the 2013 New England Conservatory Concerto Competition and performed with the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at Jordan Hall. Having graduated from Boston Latin School, Phuong-Nghi is now a freshman at Amherst College, attending as a QuestBridge National College Match Recipient and a Jack Kent Cooke College Scholar. She currently studies piano with Alissa Leiser.

Summer is around the corner and it's time to celebrate! Join Onein3 in Dorchester for their June edition of Neighborhood Nights!  Celebrate the sunshine with a casual night of drinks, conversation and community building.  

This month Onein3 is partnering with Read Boston, the city's only comprehensive early literacy program, to host a book drive for young Bostonians ages 3-8.  Take a walk down memory lane and bring your favorite book as a kid, or choose from a list of suggested books

Haitian Heritage Parade | May 17

Come celebrate Haitian Heritage! The 15th Annual Haitian Unity Parade will take place on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan and Dorchester! More than 200 local organizations, schools and businesses from all over New England are expected to participate in the event, which can draws tens of thousands of people.

Mayor Marty Walsh Coffee Hour | June 9

Join Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department for the 17th Annual Neighborhood Coffee Hour Series in local parks citywide from May 6th - June 17th.
