Greater Boston House Concerts

Greater Boston House Concerts takes place in a historic 1885 home, recreating the Salon experience of intimate concerts and exchanging of ideas in a warm and inviting environment.  Founded in May 2011, GBHConcerts was founded by Aaron Larget-Caplan as a means of bridging the chasm between popular culture and art music.  With over 20 concerts to date, GBHConcerts is being recognized as a cultural leader in Art Music outside the concert hall.   All events are BYOB or W.  No door sales of tickets. Shirts and shoes required.  Please be respectful of your neighbors and be very conservative with perfumes/colognes and moth balls.

Health Of South Dorchester | August 6,2014

Come out and join the Boston Public Health Commission on August 6th to touch upon the health of the community. Talk about ways of improving your health, as well as recieve info about how to live a healthy and safe lifestyle. FREE food will be provided! This event will part take in th Great Hall in Codman Sqaure, located at 6 Norfolk Street, Dorchester MA, 20124. From 6:30-8:30pm!

Mom & Kid Ride | June 14

An easy-paced, off-street ride for women and kids!
11:00 Registration, bike decorating and face painting
12:00 Ride departs
1:00 Picnic and ice cream party

Lunch available for purchase at the Franklin Park Club House (cash only). Free kids' mac & cheese or hot dog with every $6 purchase. Complimentary JP Licks ice cream for all participants.

After the ride, enjoy an optional excursion to the Franklin Park Zoo -- the first 100 people to register will receive one free kids' pass to the zoo (adult ticket purchase required). Helmets required for all participants. No training wheels please! Mom and kids are welcome to invite the men in their lives.

Black & Green Celebration | April 6

Irish International Immigrant Center Logo

On Sunday, April 6 the Irish International Immigrant Center (IIIC) and Montserrat Aspirers will host their 20th Annual Black and Green Celebration. This event will take place at the Montserrat Aspirers Hall located at 358 Washington Street in Dorchester from 2-5 pm. 

This event was established in 1994 as a way to foster trust and build bridges between communities in Boston. It brings together many cultures for an afternoon of great food, music, and discussion. The theme of this year's event is The Faces of Change in Boston: Our Community Challenges and Improvements. The discussion will be led  by two special guests, Massachusetts State Senator, Linda Dorcena Forry a native Bostonian and first generation Haitian-American to represent the 1st Suffolk District. Join the Dorchester Bike Festival on Saturday April 27, 2014 from 9am to noon.
Location: Pedal & Park Bike Parking Facility on Dorchester Avenue by the Ashmont T Station

Breakfast will be provided!

Timeline:

9am-11am - enjoy some free breakfast and get to know the Ashmont Pedal & Park facility, which enables commuters to park their bikes before catching buses and trains at the Ashmont T Station. There will be free bike tune-ups and family friendly activities to raise awareness about safe bicycling practices. You can also enter to win prizes.

Sunday March 16 at 6pm, John Hanlon and Sue Mcdevitt are having a team MR8 fundrasing Party at Blasi's in Admas Corner. There will be Irish music, free appitizer's raffles and great fun. Tickets are going for $20 in advance in $25 at the door.

KidsFest | March 15

BEFF presents KidsFest at the Adams Street Library located at 690 Adams Street, Dorchester,Saturday, March 15 from 11am - 12:30pm. This event is suitable for children five and up. Come see funny and beautiful animations for kids. One hour of short films about our planet followed by a hands-on, take-home activity. Although registration is not required, there are limited seats for this free event. Children that will be participating must be accompanied by an adult.

Playful Paws Playgroups | March 12

Starting Wednesday, March 12 Playful Paws Playgroup will be taking place in the Franklin Park Zoo at One Franklin Park Road (Meeting Barn) form 10:15am - 11:00am. Ages for this play group ranges from 18 months – 3 year olds with a caregiver. Playful Paws Playgroup is as much for the caregivers as it is for the “cubs.” Get out of the house and bring your little one to the Zoo for some open play and animal exploration. At each class participants will learn through looking, touching, and movement. The possibilities are endless and may include storytimes, animal encounters, biofacts, simple crafts and more. And, if the weather is nice, we might go for treks outside! Registration is required use this link Cost: $32 for a series for Members, $40 for a series for Non-members. Sibling discount applies. B-3 Police Community Meeting at Lee School Wednesday March 19 at 5 pm,the District B-3 Crime Advisory Meeting will be held at the Josesph Lee School, located at 155 Talbot Ave., Dorchester. Residents and merchants are invited to attend to meet members of the out and Boston Police Command Staff. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

JFK Library Celebrates St. Patrick's Day: Greene O'Leary School of Irish Dance | March 15

On Saturday March 15 between 10am and 11:30am, the Greene O'Leary School returns to the JFK Library for a youthful celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Dancers demonstrate athleticism, skill and poise while presenting traditional and contemporary styles of Irish Dance.
