National Poetry Month and the Smithsonian's Jazz Appreciation Month coincide in April, making it the perfect time for a project that celebrates both. 

Celebrating Poetry and Jazz Together, a collaboration of JazzBoston, New England Conservatory Jazz Studies Chair Ken Schaphorst, and former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, remind us the pairing of poetry and jazz has a long history. 

Hear NEC students read jazz-influenced poems selected by Pinsky, and then perform the music that inspired them. You can even step up and read one of the poems
