Come out and enjoy "Jazz in the Square" on the grounds of Second Church in Dorchester, corner of Washington and Talbot Ave, Codman Square at 5pm. Bring something to eat and invite your friends and family. All are welcome.

Discover Black History with Discover Roxbury!

To commemorate Black History Month, our friends at Discover Roxbury have some fun and informative events lined up. On February 11, Roxbury's Black History Trolley Tour will be taking off from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Take an informative trolley tour through three centuries of Boston's historic Black neighborhoods! Follow the progression of the Black churches of Boston, the importance of the arts, the struggles during the civil rights movement, and become more familiar with the movers, shakers, and strivers in Roxbury's Black history! The trolley departs at:

12:30 p.m. from Roxbury Heritage State Park / DCR, 183 Roxbury St., in Roxbury.
12:50 p.m. from Hotel 140, 140 Clarendon Street, Back Bay.

Holiday Jazz Night @ First Parish Church Dec. 9

Jazz on the Hill

On Friday, December 9, Bowdoin Geneva will have a jazz night fundraiser at First Parish Church in Dorchester, 10 Parish Street. The event is 7 to 11 PM. Tickets are $20. Roxbury History Speaker Series: Jazz Roxbury Nov. 16

The Roxbury History Speaker Series is back, on Wednesday, November 16, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.! And, it has a question about Jazz: Did Lower Roxbury's 1950s jazz scene influence the early Civil Rights Movement, and vice versa? If so, how? Discover Roxbury's team has been researching and interviewing former residents, musicians, and club patrons since mid-summer to find the answers. So, History Speaker Series: Jazz Roxbury will be happening at Haley House Bakery and Cafe, 12 Dade Street in Roxbury. Dinner will be available to purchase at 5:00 p.m.

Riffs & Raps Oct. 1

Riffs & Raps Jazzin' the Generations will be held at the Adams Street Branch Library on October 1st. The concert will feature musicians Arni Cheatham, Bill Lowe and Kevin Harris. Travel through the ages with a live musical tour from the roots of jazz in blues and spirituals through the Great American Songbook right up to the many sounds of jazz today, with some other musical traditions and international sounds along the way. BeanTown Jazz Fest Block Party Sep. 24

Boston's biggest block party will be on Saturday, September 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Columbus Avenue. The party starts in the South end at Massachusetts Avenue and will feature three stages with performances from more than 15 artists and many family activities to participate in. There will also be vendors selling food from all over the world. Carter Playground will be transformed into Berklee Family Park - a hub of activity that will feature inflatables, face painting, and even an "instrument petting zoo" staffed by Berklee professionals!
