Voices United | May 12

Girls' LEAP presents Voices United. Voices United is a workshop about poetry, art and awareness.  This is a community awareness event that will take place on May 12 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm at 197a Centre Street in Dorchester. Girls' LEAP is also offering a Mother-Daughter Self-Defense workshop from 10pm to 12pm. Registration fee of $15 must be paid at the door on May 12. For more information, contact Kaitie@Girlsleap.org

Raise Your Voice! | Jan. 19

Raise your voice! Join many girls and women from all backgrounds and ages to talk openly about all types of sexual violence and learns skills to empower and protect yourself! This event, located at 120 Forsyth Street, will take place on January 19 from 9am to 1pm. Learn safety tips, hear from survivor speakers, and more! RSVP is required! Join Girls' LEAP for a night of poetry & performance to raise awareness about violence against girls & women.  Sign & Support the "Voices of Teens & Young Women- A Bill of Rights by Girls' LEAP.  Ayanna Pressley, Boston City Councillor At-Large, will be attending to show her  support for our efforts to prevent violence and to sign our Bill of Rights.

Girls' LEAP Workshop Jan. 21

Girls' LEAP (Lifetime Empowerment & Awareness Program) Self-Defense workshop offers a safe and supportive environment for participants to develop the necessary skills to champion their own safety and well-being. This is a mother/daughter workshop for girls ages 8-14 and their mother or a significant woman in their life (aunt, teacher, mentor, etc.)
The workshop will be an introduction to basic self-defense and personal safety through verbal de-escalation and personal boundary setting skills, and will help families communicate more effectively around issues related to personal safety and self-confidence.

To register, please call 617.514.4285. The registration deadline for this workshop is Friday, January 13th. The workshop will be on Saturday, January 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Girls' LEAP, located at 197a Centre Street (formerly St. Mark's School) in Dorchester, MA 02124 the closest MBTA stop is Shawmut, and the cost of this workshop is FREE!
