Don't forget to RSVP for Ready for Kindergarten 1-2-3! This is a 3-part interactive series facilitated by Countdown to Kindergarten and Families First designed for parents with children entering kindergarten in the upcoming fall. Help your child through this transition and get a better understanding of the Kindergarten experience. The Alphabet Rockers Family Concert | May 1

 

The Alphabet Rockers is a fresh and funky family music group from San Francisco. The Alphabet Rockers mixes hip hop, beatboxing, soul music, imagination and dance for an interactive show, with the foundation of learning concepts from the K-2 curriculum. This FUN and FREE family concert will take place on May 1 from 10am to noon, with a Family Cafe Breakfast served from 9am to 9:45am. Both events will take place at 270 Mt Vernon Street in Dorchester. Early College Planning Initiative Workshop | April 3

 

Take advantage of the Early College Planning Initiative Workshop on April 3! The workshop will take place at 35 Deer Street (in Dorchester) and will take place at two different times (6pm to 7pm OR 7pm to 8pm). The workshop is aimed towards parents of 7th to 10th graders who want to learn more about affording college. Not to mention all this valuable information comes with a $20 giftcard! School Readiness Roundtable | March 14

 

Fields Corner Children thrive/Dorchester Cluster invites parents, caregivers, community member and service providers to join the next Fields Corner Children Thrive School Readiness Roundtable which will take place on March 14 from 12:00pm to 2:30pm at 1135 Dorchester Ave. Lunch and childcare will be provided! There will be a raffle for $20 Target gift cards for parent and grandparent participants. To be eligible for the raffle, you must attend the entire meeting. Dot Dads | March 13

Dot Dads is a 13-week program for fathers that starts on March 13. If you are a father or if you know of a father who would like to learn nurturing/parenting skills, become a better dad, and connect to other fathers in the community, contact 617-474-1143 x222 to reserve a spot.

Friendship Group | Feb. 5

 

Be a great friend! First and third graders can come and learn social skills, disability awareness, how to help others, and how to be a great friend! This friendship group will take place every Tuesday at 4pm starting February 5 (for 5 weeks). These meetings will take place at 1135 Dorchester Avenue. February Vacation Fun | Feb. 19 - 22

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester are having a February School Vacation Week. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome from 8:30am to 5:00pm. This week will be filled with fun activities including a color war, music, art, scavenger hunts, swimming, and more! Understanding Special Education Rights | Jan. 31

The Disability Law Center will be answering questions about special education rights on January 31st from 6pm to 8pm at 1135 Dorchester Ave. They will be going over obtaining addition special education services and obtaining delivery of services that are already in the IEP (Individual Education Program). Drop & Shop | Dec. 16

 

Do your holiday shopping while your children have fun! Drop off your children (ages 3-8) at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester (1135 Dorchester Ave) while you shop! Childcare will last from 10am to 2pm and will include arts and crafts, music, board games, and more! Please have your child bring a lunch and don't forget that SPACE IS LIMITED!
