Free Creative Writing Classes in Your Neighborhood

From September 2016, GrubStreet and the Boston Public Library are working in partnership to provide free creative writing classes to Boston neighborhood libraries, beginning in the Egleston Square and Grove Hall branches. Each class is led by either Jennifer De Leon or Denise Delgado, our Neighborhood Program Fellows. Click on the links below to sign up for a session. Sewing Classes

Learn basic sewing skills and learn a life skill!

  • Learn basic sewing and sewing machine basics
  • Bring your own machine or use class machine
  • Learn how to choose the correct fabrics

The class projects are lined tote bag or a 48" x 48" Quilt

Children: ages 9-14, the fee is $75, materials included, 4 classes in 2 hour sessions!

Class dates: Every Saturday in September, 2pm-4pm!


Adult: $75 plus your own supplies, fabric and thread (or purchase fabric kit seperately), 4 classes 2 1/2  hour sessions!

Pool and Water Fitness Class | June 24 and 30

Adults and seniors come to Pool Water Fitness and Jogging! Sessions will be 4 weeks long and 45 minutes in duration. Water jogging belts and special equipment will be provided!

Zumba Fitness is a feel-happy workout that combines a motivating fusion of Latin and international music with unique moves and dynamic combinations that allow participants to dance away their worries. Free Sewing Class at Stitch House

On Saturday, March 1 the Stitch House will host a Knitting class. The event will take place from 3-5 pm at the Stitch House located at 846 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. Baby Signs at Fields Corner Branch Library


Babies can't talk, but they can use signs to communicate with parents and other caregivers. Come join us for six sessions of Baby Signs, presented by Suzanne Cort and sponsored by Fields Corner Children Thrive. Registration is strongly encouraged. There will be no session on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
