Dorchester's Holiday Spectacular | Dec. 14

Please join us on Sunday, December 14th, 2014 for our Holiday Party! 
The party is due to be a fun time, and is free for all children ages 2 - 13 years old! There will be Holiday Craft Tables, Face Painting, Games, Holiday Treats, and last but not least, Santa and his Elves!

Diary of A Wimpy Kid Series Creator Visits the Boston Public Library | April 27

Boston Public Library

On Sunday, April 27 the creator of Diary of A Wimpy Kid will be coming to the Boston Public Library. This event is part of the 2014 Lowell Lecture Series. This series runs through May and features beloved author’s and illustrators, noted scholars in children’s field and experts who bring the love of writing and reading to children in groundbreaking ways.The event will take place at the Rabb Lecture Hall of the Central Library in Copley Square located at 700 Boylston Street beginning at 2 pm. There will be book sales and signings after the lecture. Readers of all ages are invited to ask questions to the author and illustrator, Jeff Kinney after the event.

Doll E. Daze | April 22

Fields Corner Branch Library

On Tuesday, April 22 the Fields Corner Branch Library will host Doll E. Daze from 1 pm until 2 pm. This event will take place at the Fields Corner Branch Library located at 1520 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. Join the library for an intergenerational doll making program. Set on the coast of Africa, nearly 300 years ago, the tale of Cecilia’s wrap doll was told many times by Grandma Elmira. Today this tale has been recreated into a performance that captivates its audience as they learn the secrets of enslaved children’s courage.

This 30 minute oral presentation culminates with doll making instructions and creation of the audiences' own doll interpretation of Cecilia the dream fairy. For more information about this event, contact Emily Todd, Programs and Community Outreach Librarian at etodd@bpl.org or call 617-436-2155.

Books of Hope Poetry for Children | April 4

Books of Hope

April is National Poetry Month. The Fields Corner Branch of the Boston Public Library will host Books of Hope Poetry for Children. This event is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 4 from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm. This event will take place at the Fields Corner Branch Library located at 1520 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. 

The event is for children ages 6-12. They can come read, recite, and perform poetry with the Books of Hope Creative Writing program. They can discover new poets and poem and express themselves in a creative and positive atmosphere. 

This event is sponsored by the Boston Public Library Foundation. 

Rockin with Raptors | September 28

Come join Mass Audubon celebrate their 11th anniversary of the George Robert Environmental Conservation Center. The festivities will beheld Saturday, September 28, between 1pm- 4 pm. This is a free event and it is open to the public. Event will include:
