The 2013 Dorchester Day Parade Committee Essay Contest

 

The Dorchester Day Parade Committee will be hosting an essay contest open to all Dorchester children in the 6th through 8th grades or any 6th through 8th grade student that attends a Dorchester school.  Thanks to the Dorchester Reporter for sponsoring this event, two prizes will be awarded to the winning essays that are chosen from a panel of local judges. All students that enter the contest will receive an award certificate. The entry and essay must be postmarked by May 20, 2013 to be considered for a prize. Good Luck.

Girls' LEAP Summer Mentors

 

Learn about the Teen Mentor Summer Program if any of your teens or their fellow teenage siblings/friends are interested. The Teen Mentor Summer Program at Girls’ LEAP combines assistant teaching in self-defense programs, attending social-justice meetings, creating a personalized multi-media presentation and engaging in professional development and leadership skill-building workshops. Cost: FREE  

Applications for the Red Sox Scholars program are open! All 7th grade BPS students are invited to apply for a $10,000 college scholarship through the Red Sox Foundation. The funds are held in the student's name until they graduate high school and then paid directly to the college of their choice. The Theater Offensive seeks non-union actors/singers for an original musical, 99% Stone by Letta Neely and Melissa Li. Actors will be cast for a staged reading taking place February 15-17, 2013 and for a full workshop production June 20-23, 2013 with the potential for touring to various US locations in 2014 on a National Performance Network Tour. Actors must also be available for publicity teasers at various times/locations June 1-19, 2013.

Girls Youth Soccer

 

DYS is looking for girls who love Soccer! The U14 Girls Travel Soccer team needs to fill their roster. DYS is searching for dedicated players who have played before and who want to be coached and play HARD! The team will have a practice and a game each week. The season will consist of 8-10 games and will be on Saturdays. Games will alternate between Pope John Paul Park and fields in nearby towns. Viet-Aid Preschool Program

 

Is your child between 15 months and 5 years old? Enroll them in the Viet-Aid's Preschool Program! The program includes high quality care and education. It is NAEYC accredited!
