Madden, Langis and Schiffman Memorial Scholarships: Essay Contest 2013.

3 total scholarships will be awarded to students who are Dorchester residents in tuition-based schools in the following age categories: Grades 5-8, Grades 9-12, College. The essay topic will be "Peace in Our Community."
 
Interested students must submit a 300-500 word essay on this topic. Include your name, school, home address, phone number and e-mail address (if applicable). Your essay must be submitted by June 1, 2013. Essays must be mailed to Dorchester Board of Trade PO Box 220452, Dorchester MA 02122. Red Sox Scholarship for 7th Graders

 

What: Red Sox Scholarship

Who: All 7th Grade BPS Students

Cost: FREE  

Applications for the Red Sox Scholars program are open! All 7th grade BPS students are invited to apply for a $10,000 college scholarship through the Red Sox Foundation. The funds are held in the student's name until they graduate high school and then paid directly to the college of their choice. The Saint William’s/Dominic Bianculli Fund Scholarships | Deadline May 26

The Saint William’s/Dominic Bianculli Fund will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to eligible high school seniors this June. Scholar-ships are open to all students who live in Dorchester and will be entering a four-year college program this fall. Eligible students are strongly encouraged to apply. Deadline for submission is May 26th, 2012. The Shawn Carter (Jay-Z) Scholarship Fund offers scholarship opportunities to any under-served student across the United States. APPLICATION DEADLINE is May 15th, 2012
Eligibility Requirements:
Qualified applicants must be a high school senior, college student, and/or between the ages of 18-25, pursuing studies at a vocational or trade school. Hostelling International New England Scholarships | Deadline April 13

Each summer Hostelling International New England grants up to five youth groups from typically under-served areas of New England free scholarships to stay at one of our hostels on Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, or Eastham. In addition HI New England partners with recreational providers on the Cape to provide groups with free kayaking trips, over-sand vehicle tours, field walks and more.

Boston Tree Party Needs Your Help - Adopt a Tree!

Boston Tree Party is looking for communities and organizations of any and all kinds in the Greater Boston Area to plant and commit to caring for a pair of heirloom apple trees! It is part of the Tree Party's Spring Planting Campaign. The trees will beautify your space, improve air quality, create an awesome spot to gather and enjoy, and provide you with food - bushels of delicious apples! Intercollegiate Vietnamese Students Association (IVSA) Dreams Scholarship

Any graduating high school senior in New England who is of Vietnamese descent is eligible to apply for this scholarship. One $1,000 scholarship and one $500 Vietnamese community scholarship will be awarded. The deadline for applications is March 8, 2012 by 11:59 p.m. Any teacher recommendations sent by mail must be postmarked by this date as well. Applications can be submitted in three different ways: online submission using the form found here, email, or through snail mail. Recommendations must be sent seperately in a sealed envelope with the person's signature across the flap or by having the recommender send it to jennyle [at] college.harvard.edu. The Gates Millennium Scholarship funds a student's education for up to 10 years of study and is a unique opportunity for current high school seniors who:

Identify as a student of color

Are considered "low-income" by meeting the Federal Pell Grant eligibility (www.finaid.org)

Have a 3.3 unweighted GPA/4.0 scale in your senior year of high school
