Mission: 

Formerly known as The Washington Corridor Weed & Seed site. The Dorchester Coalition for Safe Neighborhoods convenes residents, neighborhood associations, public safety, and community development partners, and supports them in collaborative work for the improvement of the neighborhoods within the Washington Street Corridor. The association aims to: convene a monthly daytime public safety meeting for their target area, to raise money and other resources to support youth employment and youth development programs as a means to reduce youth violence, and to work with resident groups to identify neighborhood revitalization projects which result in increased greenspace or cultural opportunities for neighborhoods.

 

The monthly meetings are held at different locations each month on the fourth Tuesday.

Peabody Slope Neighborhood Association's mission is to help preserve and enhance the quality of life in the neighborhood.  As a non-profit civic organization it:

 

  • Acts as a unified voice for residents and facilitates on issues and activities affecting our neighborhood.
  • Identifies and represents the best interest of the neighborhood while serving as a community link with City government agencies on matters affecting our residents and neighborhood.
  • Facilitates neighborhood social activities.
  • Fosters relationships with organizations within the Dorchester to promote improvements within its district.

Mission: 

The Friends of Peabody Square seeks to:

-Serve as local liaison between community businesses, residents and city and state authorities to ensure the present (2011) traffic infrastructure construction project is completed according to community's wishes 
-Develop a maintenance-savvy volunteer group to help manage ongoing basic cleanup and maintenance efforts
-Develop various creative programming to activate the three public spaces, and
-Help raise money to support the group's work.

R.O.C. Neighborhood Watch

ROC Neighborhood Watch meets at the True Vine Church, 40 Norfolk St., Dorchester from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Third Thursday of every month.

Mission: 

Make our community a safe place to live, persue life goals and raise family. Reduce the occurance of violent crime in our community. Increase community engagement. Provide ongoing activities and events to increase the unity and solidarity of our community

Thrive in 5 works with all the people who support young children - their families, early care and education providers, health and human service providers, and their city - to ensure that every child in Boston has the nurturing early care and experiences that provide a solid foundation for success in school and in life. The Field’s Corner Children Thrive overall goals are to:

  • Empower and support parents and caregivers with new knowledge and skills to nurture children’s healthy development through reading, talking and playing.
  • Ensure collaboration among service providers, developing programs that prepare children to learn and meet parents and caregivers where they are and without prejudice.
  • Involve the entire Fields Corner community in creating, identifying, mapping and connecting resources that are accessible to all.

School Readiness Roundtables: Parents, service providers and educators join together to connect children and families with resources and meet other community members. The Field’s Corner Children Thrive School Readiness Roundtable will be the decision-making body for what is included in an action plan to build a culture that supports early childhood education in Fields Corner. Parents, families, friends and neighbors are needed to make this an authentic plan for the Fields Corner area.

Nonquit Street Neighborhood Association and Land Trust

Mission: 

NSNALT, founded in 1992, bridges the Catalogue’s basic categories of “Nature” and “Culture.” It serves the "higher spiritual needs of residents” as a necessity, not a luxury, in the low-income, blighted community of Upham's Corner, Dorchester. With many volunteers, NSNALT organized clean-ups of local properties, persuaded property owners to make specific improvements and security enhancements, and transformed two desolate spaces at opposite ends of a 400-ft gap
