22nd Annual Youth Peace Conference | May 24

The Strand Theater (543 Columbia Rd in Dorchester) is hosting Teen Empowerment's 22nd Annual Youth Peace Conference on May 24 at 6pm. 35 Dorchester and Roxbury teens have been working to create this year's conference. These dedicated teens have put in countless hours to create a dynamic play dealing with social and historical issues, interspersed with original songs, dance, poems, raps and reflections. The quality of their work and the sincerity of their efforts are truly inspiring. Boston’s 21st Annual Youth Peace Conference:  True Stories for One Glory coming to the Strand Theatre Saturday, May 11, 2013, 6:00-9:30 pm.  It will be one of Boston’s hottest productions featuring many of the city’s most talented young adults presenting an original theatre presentation with music, dance, spoken word, and young people speaking from their hearts about their lives and their hopes for a better Boston.  Come see and hear their true stories of Boston’s communities.  In addition, immediately following the performance, we are inviting the audience to participate in an interactive dialogue with Boston’s Mayoral Candidates about the future we all want for our city.   >> Read More

Moving Beyond Icebreakers | Sept. 13

In the first few moments of a meeting, interactive methods are considered "ice breakers." In this training, participants will explore the depth and richness of several interactive exercises, and their ability to increase positive participation, create and maintain relationships, and discuss challenging topics- all while engaging the hearts, minds, and energies of participants. How to get involved/application guidelines and procedures: 

We hire 10-12 youth through a competitive hiring process. The youths' job is to organize events and initiatives (free or nominal charge) that will involve community members.
