Kids with Asthma Can Swim (Starting October 18th, every Wednesday and Thursday 4:00-6:00pm, until January 3rd).  Kids with Asthma Can Swim is a FREE program combining asthma education and swimming lessons to improve the health and well-being of children with asthma. Youth and Adult Swim Lessons

Who: Youth swim lessons are available for ages 3 to 16. Adult swim lessons are available for ages 17 & up. 


What: DotWell offers an accredited 7- week American Red Cross swimming program for the following ages: Level 1: 3 – 6 yrs old; Level 2: 5 – 8 yrs old; Level 3: 6 – 16 yrs old; Level 4: 7 – 16 yrs old and Level 5: 7 – 16 yrs old. Ages are approximations; the class levels are dependent upon ability. Adult swim lessons are available for all swim levels.

Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures Open Gym | Nov. 10

Open Gym is a free play program for families with children ages 3-8. It takes place at the Madison Park Recreation Center in Roxbury on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30am. The Fall session starts September 29th and runs through December 1st. It will take place every Saturday, except for November 24th.

Free Blood Pressure Seminar | August 15

Brigham Women's Hospital is hosting a blood pressure seminar from 5:30pm to 7:00pm on August 15. High blood pressure is the number one risk factor for stroke. High blood pressure currently effects 1 in 4 adults in the US. It's called the "silent killer" because it has NO symptoms. By attending this seminar, you will learn who is at risk for high blood pressure. The seminar will take place at Brigham Women's Hospital (70 Francis Street, Boston MA). Snowshoeing at Boston Nature Center!

Go for a wintery hike without leaving the city! When snow is on the ground, the public is welcome to go snowshoeing at Boston Nature Center! The center is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Snowshoe rental for 2 hours is $6.00 for members and $8.00 for nonmembers. Adult and child sizes are available! The center will also be hosting special events - a Guided Snowshoe Walk on Sunday, January 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and a Family Snowshoe Walk on Saturday, January 21, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Call ahead to ensure available snowshoes: 617.983.8500.

Franklin Park New Year's Day Walk Jan. 1

The Franklin Park Coalition invites you to their annual New Year's Day Walk! Bring in the new year with a brisk walk through Franklin Park and start the year right. The walk will be on Sunday, January 1st, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meet at the Golf Clubhouse, 1 Circuit Drive in Dorchester. Hike4Life Breast Cancer Walk 10/2

Hike4Life is a Dorchester-based organization that encourages getting outside, exercising, and of course, hiking! The group is leading a group of 30 walkers at the DCR Hatch Shell, this Sunday 10/2 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
