BNAN Spring Festival | May 18th

Boston Natural Areas Network's 12th Annual Spring Festival and Perennial Divide! On Saturday, May 18th from 10 am to 2 pm, gardeners from around the city will come together at City Natives (30 Edgewater Drive, Mattapan) to exchange, donate, or simply take home plants.

Throughout the day, workshops on beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, and rainwater collection will be held. Also, City Native vegetable seedlings, native trees, shrubs, and perennials will be for sail. Aasking all those who come to bring a container to take home plants.

Arbor Day Tree Planting on the Neponset River Greenway

Friday, April 26, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Neponset Greenway at Butler MBTA Trolley Station, Butler Street, Dorchester

What better way to celebrate Arbor Day than by planting trees! Join Boston Natural Areas Network (BNAN) and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to plant new trees on the Neponset River Greenway in Dorchester. This event will begin with a tree planting demonstration led by ISA Certified Arborist Mathew Cahill, after which volunteers will break into small groups to plant trees. Gloves, tools, snacks and water provided.

MA Park Serve Day, Neponset River Greenway | April 20

MA Park Serve Day, Neponset River Greenway

Saturday, April 20, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon

Neponset Park, Hilltop Street @ Granite Ave, Dorchester

Service projects to improve MA Department of Conservation and Recreation Parks across the Commonwealth will be happening on Park Serve Day. Join Boston Natural Areas Network (BNAN) to plant seven new trees at beautiful Neponset Park in Dorchester on the Neponset River. Volunteers will also care for 25 trees planted in the fall of 2012, applying additional mulch, checking stakes and ties, fertilizing and installing gator bags. Beginner's Guide to Healthy Eating | August 25

Want to eat healthy? Boston Natural Areas Network will host a workshop on eating healthy. Health coach, Smokey Montgomery, will lead a friendly competition on how to plan the healthiest meal. He will teach you how to make your diet healthier, one bite at a time. The workshop will take place on August 25 from 10am to 12pm. The program will be located at 30 Edgewater Drive, Mattapan MA. Sounds of the Garden Concert | August 16

On August 16, Boston Natural Areas Network is hosting a free Sounds of the Garden Concert. The concert is a Brazilian-inspired performance. It will take place at the Dean Street Community Garden (46 Dean Street, Dorchester) at 6:30pm. Don't forget that refreshments will be provided but chairs will not be! Asian Longhorned Beetle | August 7

An invasive species is destroying trees in Massachusetts! The name of the species is the Asian Longhorned Beetle. Join Boston Natural Areas Network on August 7 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm for an update on the issue. Please help spread the word! The meeting will be at the Franklin Park Golf Course Clubhouse, 1 Circuit Drive, Dorchester MA.

Sounds of the Garden | July 26

Singer/guitarist Deborah and percussionist Giovani perform lively Brazilian inspired originals and samba and bossanova standards. The performance will start at 6:30pm at the Julian Judson Dean Community Garden in Dorchester. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the Sounds of the Garden. Everyday Relaxation | July 7

Feeling stressed? Come to City Natives (30 Edgewater Drive in Mattapan) on July 7 from 9am to to 11am! In this relaxing workshop, health coach and community gardener Smokey Montgomery leads a series of easy breathing and meditation exercises for improving your physical and mental wellness. All Seed, Sow and Grow programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required for all programs and registering early is recommended. Participants should dress appropriately for weather and program content.
