Asian Longhorned Beetle Workshop, Jun. 11

Asian Longhorned BeetleGames, interactive learning, tree surveys and saving the environmental - all at the same time! A free outdoor presentation for school-age kids on the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) will be given on Saturday, June 11 at 11:30 a.m. on the grounds of the Brookwood Community Farm near the Milton/Canton town line (11 Blue Hill River Rd., Canton). The presentation will be given by Ms. Stacy Kilb, Asian Beetle Outreach Coordinator for the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. Ms. Kilb works on curriculum development regarding invasive forest pests, and is currently offering ALB workshops throughout the state.

Ms. Kilb’s presentation will include an interactive lesson covering the Asian Longhorned Beetle: what it looks like, signs of damage and what kids can do to help. Then attendees will practice surveying trees and/or playing some games. The whole program will run about 60 to 90 minutes.
