Dorchester House Farmers' Market Opens, Jun. 28

SOS FarmDorchester House Multi-Service Center is proud to welcome two local agricultural groups with social missions back to its weekly farmers market in Fields Corner. The market will provide locally grown produce and information on nutrition, food stamps, WIC and other community organizations to the Dorchester Community. The Dorchester House Farmers Market will be held on Ellet Street next to the health center on Dorchester Avenue. The Market is open every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and opens on Tuesday, June 28! Check out "Serving Ourselves" Farm and reVision Urban Farm after the break!

The primary grower is the SOS "Serving Ourselves" Farm from the Long Island Shelter in Quincy. The SOS Farm is a program of the Boston Public Health Commission. It serves as a vocational program for homeless men and women for the Long Island Shelter in the Boston Harbor. The food grown goes for 70% directly to the shelter kitchen.

Their produce will be augmented by the Victory Programs' ReVision Urban Farm. The urban farm is an innovative agriculture and aquaculture project aiming to increase access to affordable, nutritious, culturally appropriate food for shelter residents and community members through a community-supported farm and several greenhouses.
