Groundbreaking for Edward M. Kennedy Institute, Apr. 8

On April 8 a ceremony will be held for the groundbreaking of a new institute, The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for The United States Senate. The event has an expected turnout of about 500 guests, including national, state, and local elected officials. The official EMK Insitute website states, "The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate is dedicated to educating the public about our government, invigorating public discourse, encouraging participatory democracy, and inspiring the next generation of citizens and leaders to engage in the public square."

Once built the institute aims to be a dynamic center of learning and engagement which will use technology to provide each visitor with a unique and rich imformative experience to bring history to life. World-renowned architect Rafael Viñoly has designed the plan for this beautiful building which will reside right next to The John F. Kennedy Library & Museum and is striving to meet LEED certification standards. Community members are encouraged to come out and celebrate the addition of this institution to Dorchester.
