Tree Party Inauguration, Apr. 10

On Sunday, April 10th, The Boston Tree Party will officially launch with the Boston Tree Party Inauguration event on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The Inauguration will be the ceremonial planting of the first pair of trees in this city-wide planting campaign. The Delegation sign in begins at 12:30 near the intersection of High St. and Atlantic Ave and the tree planting fun will go on until 3:30 p.m.

The Boston Tree Party is a collaborative campaign to plant 100 pairs of heirloom apple trees in civic spaces across Greater Boston. The tree plantings will take place in partnership with a diverse range of institutions, organizations, businesses, and communities. The event is open to the public and will feature a celebratory rally with a live marching band, a Wassailing of the trees, delectable apple treats, Central Asian barbecue (apples originated in Central Asia), and opportunities to learn more about this campaign for Civic Fruit. Boston Tree Party staff will be on hand to help new communities sign up to become Tree Planting Delegations. Committed Delegations will receive the first half of their kits (the book, flag, and buttons).
