Community Meetings: Urban Agr., Sep. 29 and Oct. 4
As part of an ongoing effort to increase access to affordable, fresh food in Boston, the City of Boston Department of Neighborhood Development has solicited proposals from qualified farmers to cultivate on two City properties in Dorchester. Join the DND as these farmers present their proposals.
A proposal for development of 131 Glenway St. will be presented on Thursday, September 29, at 6:00 p.m. This community meeting will take place at the Erie Ellington Community Center, 31 Erie St., Dorchester, MA. A second proposal regarding 23-29 Tucker St. will be presented on Tuesday, October 4, at 6:45 p.m. The second meeting will be heled in the Great Hall at Codman Square, 6 Norfolk St. Dorchester, MA. This pilot project will also involve establishing a new Urban Agriculture Zoning Overlay District to allow the cultivation of fruits and vegetables and composting of plant materials grown on site.
