Pilot Urban Agriculture Project Meeting Apr. 14

The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) & Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) community meetings regarding the Pilot Urban Agriculture Project on four city-owned Properties in Dorchester are scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Great Hall, 6 Norfolk Street. These two community meetings have been scheduled to hear from neighborhood stakeholders, community residents are encouraged to attend and be heard! 

Both meetings cover the following topics:

I. What is Urban Agriculture: Who’s Doing It and What It Looks Like 
II. Breakout Sessions
• Safe Soil Practices
• Community Benefits
• Resources for Responding to the Request for Proposals (RFP)
This pilot project involves rezoning the properties to apply an “Urban Agriculture Overlay District” to allow for urban farming. The project also involves issuing a Request for Proposals to identify qualified farmers to cultivate the properties.
