The Dorchester Holiday Celebrations Committee Trolley Tour, Nov. 27

The Holiday Celebrations Committee is hosting their annual Trolley Tour, which will be making ten stops at Tree Lightings in the community of Dorchester. Mayor Menino and other special guests will be riding throughout the town. Many of the Tree Lightings will feature hot chocolate, carol sing-a-longs and other special treats. Castle Island Association's 28th Annual Halloween Celebration! Oct 23-24

In cooperation with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Castle Island Association will be putting on a great Halloween event once again! The weekend will be full of fun stuff to do, complete with magicians, storytellers and the spooky Children's Magical Mystery Castle! The Boston Public Library Compass - Oct. to Nov. Meetings for Feedback

The Boston Public Library (BPL) is beginning the second phase of its strategic planning process "the BPL Compass" which includes six strategic planning sessions held across the City.

The library’s strategic planning process began in Fall 2009, during which over 1,000 comments were collected. These ideas came from public sessions in Hyde Park, Mattapan, and South Boston, BPL staff sessions, blogs, a Trustees Compass committee, meetings with BPL affiliates and friends, and more. From this engagement a set of draft principles were developed to guide the Boston Public Library to future success. >> Read More

Family Fun at the Pierce House - Oct 9, 2010


Historic New England presents Fall Family Fun at the Pierce House Museum on Saturday, October 9. The Pierce House was built in 1683 and is one of the last surviving examples of seventeenth-century architecture in Boston. The Family Fun event will feature crafts and other fun activities connected to harvest time and the Pierce House as a working farm. Come design a pressed leaf card, make a leaf rubbing, practice spinning and weaving, or step back in time with colonial clothing, toys and games. Viet-AID is launching its first after-school program for the 2010-2011 school year. It is designed to provide youth from Boston’s Vietnamese community and Field’s Corner neighborhood an opportunity for academic and cultural enrichment after-school.
