IJDH Office Opening Event, Sep. 14

A great friend to Haiti has a new home! Join the Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti (IJDH) on Wednesday, September 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., to celebrate the establishment of a Boston-based headquarters. Come mingle with members of the Boston Haitian community and non-Haitians supporting Haitians’ fight for justice at home and in the United States, including activists, lawyers, advocates, healthcare professionals and political leaders. Dot House Seeks "Masquer-Aid" Auction Items

Dot HouseOn Friday, October 28, 2011, Dorchester House Multi-Service Center will host the first annual Masquer-Aid Ball to benefit urgent care services for our 21,000 patients. As this is Dot House's first-ever fundraising event, the health center is starting at the grass-roots level, seeking support from community members, organizations, and businesses to make it a success. Thus, Dorchester House is looking for silent auction item(s) or donation. Dorchester Music Clubhouse Summer Bash, Aug. 12

The Dorchester Music Clubhouse will be hosting an extraordinary event on August 12! The "End of the Summer Bash" will conclude the clubhouse's summer programming with a BBQ & Concert. Special guest performers, including a new recording artist "P'Tah" who will be doing a meet and greet, will provide entertainment. Please see the attached flier. You don't want to miss this!

Ciclopaseo and Cycling in Quito, Aug. 16

The Ciclopaseo in Quito, Ecuador, a 30km route closed to motorized traffic every week to allow space for cycling, walking, and other forms of transport, averages 40,000 participants each day it is held. Sally Sharrow, who helped out as an intern for Dot Bike this year, got a taste of the bicycle advocacy scene in Quito while studying abroad there last year. She will share her experiences working and riding with the people and organizations involved in making Quito una ciudad cicletera. Clemente Course Now Accepting Applications!

Clemente CourseThe Clemente Course, a comprehensive introduction to the humanities through the study of literature, art history, philosophy and American history, is now accepting applications for the 2011-2012 season! During the course, students are coached in writing and developing critical thinking skills. The Clemente Course is accredited by Bard College and qualifies students for six college credits upon successful completion of the program. Food Coop Potluck Get-Together, Aug. 25

Collaborate for food access; cooperate for community. The Dorchester Community Food Co-op will hold a Pot Luck Dinner and general get together at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 25 at the Nightingale Community Garden—recently renovated by the Boston Natural Area Network near the corner of Park St. and Washington St. in Dorchester. The garden is alive with activity, and is a model for creating a space that brings together the full diversity of Dorchester residents. Please come and bring friends and neighbors who are interested in a Food Co-op in Dorchester!

Boston Living Center Tea Dance, Sep. 25

dbar's September 2011 Tea Dance is benefiting the Boston Living Center, New England's largest community and resource center for people living with HIV/AIDS, and you’re invited! The Tea Dance will also double as a 10-year celebration for the PrideSports Boston organization, which was founded in 2001, so all LGBT sports have been invited to participate.

Come to dbar (1236 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester) on Sunday, September 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. for the festivities! (This event was rescheduled from August 28.)
