Dorchester Board of Trade Holiday Party, Dec. 14

The Dorchester Board of Trade Holiday Party will take place Tuesday, December 14th, at 5:30. The DBOT will accept cash contributions and donations of toys for distribution to worthy Dorchester charities at the event. The party will be at Phillips Old Colony House at 780 Morrissey Boulevard, Dorchester. Tickets are $15.00. There is plenty of free parking!

New Boston Public Schools Website Offers Resources to Families

Stay informed about local education! The BPS now offers a new site that will keep every family and student up to date on what’s taking place within the Boston Public Schools: visit http://bpsfamilies.org/. The site, run by the Boston Public Schools Office of Family and Student Engagement, describes itself as "a valuable resource not only to parents, family members, students, and community members but to teachers and school staff as well."

Speaker Series: Haitian Roxbury, Oct. 27

The Boston area is home to a large Haitian-American community which stretches from Cambridge to Mattapan, placing Roxbury right in the center. On Oct. 27th, attend a panel discussion which discusses the rise, growth, and cultural life of the Haitian community in Roxbury. The panel includes Marjorie Salvodon, Assoc Professor at Suffolk University; Kathleen Jeanty, Mayor's Office of New Bostonians; Gerard Georges, Senior Project Manager at Fletcher Thompson Architects; and Manolia Charlotin, Editor and Business Manager at the Boston Haitian Reporter.
