Jazz at the Fort | August 4

This Sunday, August 4, from 5 to 7pm the annual Jazz at the Fort event will take place at Marcella Park in Roxbury. This is a free event that features Diane Richardson, assistant chair and jazz vocalist in the Berklee Voice Department. Also, don't miss the live painter Percy Davis who will create a painting inspired by live jazz music. In addition, a group of ArtROX vendors selling jewelry, mixed media arts and etched glass will be on site to appeal to your wants.

Canning Basics (August 13):
Preserve the summer's bounty in this hands-on class! Discuss canning equipment and safety measures, try out a few recipes and explore healthy ways to add flavor to food! Canning Basics will take place from 6:00pm to 8:30pm on August 13 at The Food Project Kitchen (555 Dudley Street in Dorchester).

Project DEEP Exam Prep Registration | July 29 to August 2

Project DEEP invites students entering the 6th grade to participate in ISEE/SSAT Examination Preparation. Program registrations will take place from July 29 to August 2 at 1135 Dorchester Ave. This is an eight week program of 90 minute Math and/or Verbal sessions. $80 = 1 student/1 course; $140 = 1 student/2 courses. Financial aid is available! In 2012, 80% of the students who took Project DEEP's Exam Prep Courses were admitted into an exam school.

Registration dates: July 29 (8:30am to 9:30am); July 30 (5:00pm to 6:00pm); July 31 (8:30am to 9:30am); August 1 (8:30am to 9:30am); August 2 (8:30am to 9:30am).
