The Strand Theater (543 Columbia Rd in Dorchester) is hosting Teen Empowerment's 22nd Annual Youth Peace Conference on May 24 at 6pm. 35 Dorchester and Roxbury teens have been working to create this year's conference. These dedicated teens have put in countless hours to create a dynamic play dealing with social and historical issues, interspersed with original songs, dance, poems, raps and reflections. The quality of their work and the sincerity of their efforts are truly inspiring. Tickets are $2 in advance, $3 at the door and $1 each for groups of 10 or more. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invite the public to an update on ongoing improvements to pathways at Franklin Park. The proposed project includes renovations to selected pathways as defined in priority setting meetings back in 2012. If you are a community enthusiast, you won't want to miss this! On May 18, Dorchester Historical Society (195 Boston Street) goes behind the scenes to allow visitors of all ages a peak at spaces in its properties that are not usually open to the public.
