Nation of Immigrants Community Seder, March 11

The Nation of Immigrants Community Seder brings together diverse communities from the Greater Boston area to build bridges of understanding. This year's community seder will be on Sunday, March 11th at 3:00 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom of UMass Boston.

The first took place in 2007, and grew out of a tradition dating back many years, where ADL New England celebrated Seders with the African-American, Irish, and Catholic communities. The goals of this program are to establish and maintain alliances with other immigrant communities to gain allies against prejudice, anti-Semitism, racism and all forms of bigotry. It also provides a unique opportunity for people in the Greater Boston area to come together, learn about one another, share in a Jewish tradition, make new connections and gain a more profound understanding of each of our stories, cultures and communities. This special event models the traditional celebration of the Passover holiday. The Passover Seder celebrates the exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. The Seder’s message of hope and freedom is both universal and meaningful for all. At the Seder, hundreds of participants come together to honor this tradition and celebrate all of our unique journeys to becoming part of this nation of immigrants.
