Greater Boston House Concerts presents: John McDonald in a Salon of New Music.

A "fresh, inventive, urbane, and keen-witted young composer" (Boston Globe) and "a splendid pianist" "with a born pianist's command of colors, textures, dynamics", John McDonald has earned international acclaim as a musician.

Explore the mind and music of composer/pianist John McDonald, in a soirée of his recent compositions for flute, guitar, and piano, with flutist Elizabeth Erenberg, guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan and the composer himself at the piano.
 
Hosted by Aaron and Catherine Larget-Caplan with a Q&A with the artists and a reception will follow the concert.

Energy Efficiency Crew Launch Party | June 2

Celebrate with Co-op Power Boston Metro East at the Energy Efficiency Crew Launch Party on Saturday, June 2 at 2 p.m. on the Lawn at Second Church in Dorchester, corner of Washington St & Talbot Ave, Codman Square, Dorchester, MA  with music, food, tour of “green” home, and prizes. The Crew provides insulation, weatherization, air sealing to homes in the Greater Boston area. Co-op Power is a consumer-owned co-operative that uses its capital and market power to build good green jobs and community-based green businesses for the benefit of the community at-large. Haitian Movie Awards | Oct. 7

SAVE THE DATE Once a year, since last year, The Motion Picture Association of Haiti (MPAH) comes together with various businesses, civic leaders, renowned Haitian actors, and Hollywood actors of Haitian descent to celebrate the advancement of Haitian Art, specifically the Haitian Movie industry. 

Established in 2011, the MPAH movie award is the premier Haitian led event held in Boston Massachusetts annually. >> Read More

Haitian-American Unity Parade | May 20

“The Haitian-Americans United, Inc. (H.A.U.) is pleased to invite the general audience to participate in a series of events organized to celebrate the 2012 Haitian Heritage Month in Boston, Massachusetts. H.A.U. and its partner organizations continue to focus on “Unity” as a central theme for each event; while evoking the spirit and the determination of the ancestors that led Haiti’s independence on January 1st 1804.”
 
The culmination of these events is on Sunday with the Haitian-American Unity Parade beginning in Mattapan Square and walking up Blue Hill Ave.

If you would like to participate in marching in the parade this year, please contact France Belizaire and Beatrice Martin at 617-822-8165. This walk is open to staff and clients of the Health Center.

 

Congratulations! You've Been Rejected | May 18

The Howard Art Project is proud to present "Congratualtions! You've been rejected!!" A group show of work that has been rejected from other shows a minimum of three times.  The show will have an opening reception on May 18th from 7PM to 9PM, and will run until the 31st.  It features the work of Sarah Hill, Faith Johnson, Cathleen Faubert, Melissa Boyajian, Fred Ata, and Arpi Adamyan, and is curated by Melissa Boyajian and Faith Johnson.  Feel free to check out the Howard Art Project's website HERE.

BPS Community Meeting | May 21

BRIDGE BOSTON CHARTER SCHOOL, in partnership with BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS, will
occupy the former ENDICOTT SCHOOL BUILDING, beginning this summer.

BRIDGE BOSTON CHARTER SCHOOL is new charter public school. It is a tuition-free public school serving 108 students in pre-Kindergarten through 1st grade. It will add one
grade per year until it reaches grades per-K though 8 with 335 students.

To learn more about the partnership, Bridge Boston’s program, students and plans for the building, please come to the Community Meeting on May 21, hosted by the Erie Ellington group at 6:15 PM at 31 Erie Street.
