Developer's Presentation | October 3

The Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) and the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services would like to invite the community to discuss proposed home construction on several City-owned vacant areas on Callender, Lauriat, and Tucker Streets.

The Meeting will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, October 3,2013 at the Mattapan Public Library on 1350 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan MA. The Meeting will be from 6-8pm

The Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) invites the community to attend the October 2013 meeting if the Codman Square Neighborhood Council. DND will be on the CSNC agenda to discuss the potential development of the following parcels for urban agriculture.

Sand Tray World Play | October 1

October 1st, Louis D. Brown Peace Institute & The Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery will be hosting their 2nd meeting.  This meeting will  focus on an alternative therapeutic practice in which people express themselves and their experiences through a natural, self-guided, self- healing process.

Open Mic Night | September 27

Friday September 27 – Open Mic Night, Doors open at 6pm. This Open Mic will be hosted by the Boston School of Music Arts. 
The school, launched in 2010, is located in the Lower Mills and provides professional-quality music education to adults and children of all ages and levels. With over 200 student families, studying everything from voice, piano, guitar , drums, saxophone just to name a few.
 Everyone is welcome to perform. Dot 2 Dot Cafe would like you to support them  by purchasing something from their dinner menu (minimum spend $10 for adults, $7 children up to 12 years).

Grove Hall PEACE WALK | September 25

Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 4pm, Project RIGHT will kick off their Peace Walk in Grove Hall. The walk will start at Lilla Frederick Pilot Middle School, 270 Columbia Road. The walk will take place between Brunswick St. and Intervale St. Come out and join them for the community walk and gathering by Demanding Peace.

Baby Music Time | September 28

Saturday, September 28 at 4pm, on 191 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester (corner of Bowdoin and Topliff Street), Sustainability Guild International and a volunteer mom form the community will host Baby Music Time. A Free musical experience for children aged 6mths to 4 years.  There will be maracas to shake, tambourines to tap, triangles to ring, recorders to blow into and more, all while dancing and wiggling to children's songs. Feel free to bring in any musical instruments you may have as well.

Private School Fair to Promote Diversity | September 29

Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 1:00-3:30 PM,  Association of Independent Schools in New England, will be at the Blue Hill Boys and Girls Club, 15 Talbot Avenue, Dorchester doing a Private School Fair.
This School Fair is an opportunity for families and students to meet with representatives from upward of fifty different private schools, boarding schools including day schools in the Boston area.  No registration required.

Dorchester Coalition for Safe Neighborhoods | September 24

On Tuesday, September 24th, Dorchester Coalition for Great Neighborhoods is hosting a monthly public safety meeting from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. This month, the meeting will be held at the Department of Youth Services on 425 Harvard Street, Dorchester. The meeting will be hosted by John Hughes, Regional Director. It is one of the few daytime public safety meetings held in Dorchester open to all residents, businesses, and community organizations. Parking is in the parking lot and light lunch will be provided!
