EMK Institute Welcomes John Lewis| July 20th

Representative John Lewis is speaking this Monday the 20th at the EMK Institute on Columbia Point. John will be speaking about  the Voting Rights Act which was established 50 years ago. John will be also talking about the importance of civic engagement as well as his work with the late Sen.Kennedy. Earth Fest | July 18th

The annual Radio 92.9 EarthFest will be held at Boston Commons on July 18  this Saturday. Gospel Fest Auditions| July 16th

On  Thursday, July 16th Mayor Marty Walsh is hosting auditions for this falls Gospel Fest at City Hall. Candidates should be 18 years old have prior choir experience, should also be prepared to perform 30 seconds of a gospel song of their own choice. This years Gospel Fest is going to be a tremendous time, Erica Campbell (From Gospel Duo Mary Mary) will be feauturing at the show! Dont miss this opportunity let your voice be heard.

Job Fair| July 14th

On Tuesday. July 14th at 60 School St. In Boston the dept. of Youth engagement and employment is putting on a job fair for ages 16+ for positions in retail at Primark. Primark is a European brand coming right to the US this Septmeber and they are looking for employees in preparation of the grand opening later this fall. Here is a list of some of the positions (not all) that they are hiring for (no minimum experience required)

Public Annual Meeting| July 13

Codman Square Health Center will host a Public Annual Meeting today, July 13th at 6pm in the Great Hall in Codman Square.  Mayor Marty Walsh, longtime supporter of the Health Center and Dorchester native will adress the crowd. During this meeting some great partners of the Codman Square Health Center, State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and State Representative Russell Holmes will be recognized. Community developements and new relationships with local businesses will be discussed and spotlighted. There will be food and refreshments. Tell a friend, bring a friend!

Summer Reading Series| July 13

Dot2Dot Cafe is hosting, along side  Dorchester Arts Collaborative, a  reading series this summer starting monday the 13th ! for children ages 0-7 starting July 13  

Age Groups have various times! make sure your kid is in for the right one!

0-3 (10-10:45am),

ages 4-7 (8:30-9:30am).

Kids will have journals to document their new vocaboulary and they will also be having "book chats" with special exciting visitors. Get your kid exctied about books early!

Boston Cyclist Union Open House| July 30th

The Boston Cyclist Union is having an open meeting on July 30th to ensure that Dorchester is a safer place for those who bike.  They want you to come and discuss ways to make Dorchester more biker friendly with the Boston Redevelopment Authority forming a plan that works for the community.

5K Run/Walk | Sept.12

The Dimock Center is hosting a 5K run/ walk this September! Before the 5K they are having training days for those participating on September 12th. Training sessions will be held on various dates throughout this month and next month. They will always be held at Playstead Park in Roxbury starting at 9AM! Go get active with your community!
