Baby Signs at Fields Corner Branch Library

 

Babies can't talk, but they can use signs to communicate with parents and other caregivers. Come join us for six sessions of Baby Signs, presented by Suzanne Cort and sponsored by Fields Corner Children Thrive. Registration is strongly encouraged. There will be no session on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Tea at 221B: The Many Faces of Sherlock Holmes | March 30

The Friends of the Field Corner Branch will host a presentation about how the world has kept Arthur Conan Doyle's creation alive through movies and television, pastiche and parody. Parent-Child Playgroup and Storytime

Free play time for parents and toddlers with a short story and song session at 11:30. Every Friday from 11-12:30 p.m. at The Fields Corner Branch Library. We will have live music with Su Eaton on October 28th. This is a collaboration between Countdown to Kindergarten Play to Learn playgroups and The Fields Corner Branch Library.

A Fire in My Heart: Kurdish Tales, Mar. 22

Author and Storyteller Diane Edgecomb will present A Fire in My Heart: Kurdish Tales at the Fields Corner Branch Library on March 22 at 6:30 p.m. Diane will relate exotic legends collected from Kurdish tellers which reveal the folkloric riches of this ancient culture. Hear stories like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," which details the hazards and dangers of a Kurdish shepherd’s life, and "Fatima," a Kurdish Cinderella story. Diane will also present samples of Kurdish music, traditional dress and customs, as well as encourage audience participation. Call Cindy at 617-436-2155 for more information.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Field's Corner BPL, Mar. 15

The Fields Corner Branch Library will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Tuesday, March 15, at 6 p.m. in the activities room. There will be Irish and traditional music by the South End Library Recorder Ensemble. Refreshments will be provided. Wear something green and get a free book from the library book sale. Free Chigong Exercise Class Tuesdays at 6pm through Dec. 14th

Chigong is an exercise class with slow and gentle movement. You can learn how to practice meditation, controlled breathing techniques and mind-body balance. Chigong can also help to improve circulation, flexibility and balance and may also reduce stress and enhance immune function, as well as improve blood circulation. No pre-registration is necessary.
