Game Day!. Oct 2

This Friday, October 2 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm there will be a community game day. It will be held at the Codman Square Public Library (690 Washington St, Dorchester).

All ages are invited to come!

There will be a variety of board games for you to choose from.

Halloween Booo-wlathon, Oct 30

On Friday, October 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm there will be a Halloween Booo-wlathon! The Halloween Booo-wlathon is sponsored by Raphael & Raphael and is a Boston Cares event. It will help to support various neighborhood needs and activities throughout Boston. It is taking place at Boston Bowl, 820 William T Morrissey Blvd, Dorchester.

Sign up with a bowling team of two to six people, or be matched up to a team.

Each team is asked to raise an average of $100 person per team (i.e. a team of five must raise a minimum of $500 for a combined total). Prizes will be awarded to the top three individual fundraisers and top team fundraiser.
Wear your Halloween costume when you bowl! Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

Piano/Violin Concert, Oct 18

On Sunday, October 18 at 3:30 pm there will be a concert at St. Mary's Episcopal Church (14 Cushing Ave, Dorchester). The concert will feature the music of the greats, Mozart and Beethoven, played by musicians Stephen Lowell Swanberg on Violin and Kathleen Forgac on Piano.

Donations are welcome to help maintain the building.

Trick or Treat!? Trick or Eat!

Don't just collect candy this Halloween, join our effort to collect cans of food and non-perishables to supply our local food pantries with provisions for the winter months.

On Saturday, October 31 (that's Halloween!) starting at 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm we are having our annual Trick or Treat Canned Food Drive in the neighborhoods of Meville Park, Ashmont Hill, and Fields Corner.

We are in need of adult volunteers! Want to help students collect cans of food?

Help Solve the Puzzle, Volunteer Training with SESPP

Thursday, October 8 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, the Special Education Surrogate Parent Program (SESPP) is hosting a New Volunteer Training Day. For those who would like to become an important member of the special education team, please attend this free volunteer training. SESPP works with students ages 3-22 who have special needs and are in the custody of the MA Department of Children and Families.

Irish Heritage Festival

This whole day, FREE, festival on Sunday, October 11 will be filled with exciting Irish entertainment, shopping, food and culture in Massachusetts' most Irish neighborhood, Adams Corner in Dorchester.

There will be two stages set up, with events begining at 9 am and going until 8 pm, including lots of LIVE music and entertainment. There will also be great Irish shopping and food.

The Irish Heritage Festival is an open invitation for the Irish, the Irish at heart and the Irish-for-a-day and those OFD (originally from Dorchester) and OFI (originally from Ireland) to experience the dynamic “village area” of Adams Corner. End of Summer Sizzler, Wine-Tasting Fundraiser

On Saturday, September 26 from 3:30 to 6 pm enjoy great wine and food for a great cause at Ashmont Grill (located at 555 Talbot Ave, Dorchester, MA)!

A three-course tasting will feature affordable reds and whites paired with taste treats from chef Sam Putnam and chef/owner Chris Douglass.

Tickets are $40.00 each and benefit homeless moms and kids served by Brookview House, Inc.

Health Celebration and Moon Festival

Join in this fantastic celebration from 10 am to 2 pm at the Vietnamese American Community Center, 42 Charles Street, Dorchester.

The Festival will include Lion Dancing, a Youth Fashion Show, Youth Singing and Dancing, and Traditional Music Performances. There will be Free Lunch and Moon Cake! Great Prizes to Win! Fun and Healthy Give-Aways!

Learn to Paint with Watercolors

Continuing in her art classes, on Monday, September 28 from 6:00pm to 7:45pm Sam Thompson will teach participants the fundamentals of watercolor painting. Call 617-298-7841, or visit the branch for a list of materials to bring to class. It is the second of two classes, but you needn't have attended the first to attend this class. The class is at the Lower Mills Branch Library, 27 Richmond Street, Dorchester, MA.
