Boston Shines 2012 | April 27 & 28

Please join Mayor Thomas M. Menino for Boston Shines 2012, 10th annual two-day citywide neighborhood clean-up event, part of the Mayor’s year-round program, Boston Shines 365. Lots of clean-up events are happening throughout Dorchester, listed below are those we've heard of so far, we'll add others so please check back! 

On Friday, April 27th there will be clean-ups at the Clap School on Harvest St., the Russell School on Columbia Rd. and at the Dorchester Historical Society on Boston St. And on Saturday April 28

Saturday, April 28th: (clean-ups start off at a central meeting spot for coffee & tool pick-up)
Ashmont Adams Neighborhood [meet 319 Ashmont St 9 AM for coffee & donuts],  
Ashmont Hill [coffee & donuts, tools, neighborhood photo at 36 Welles Ave 9 AM],

Bowdoin-Geneva Main Street [meet at 200 Bowdoin Street between 8:30am and 9AM, cook-out at 1PM],

First Parish Church/Meetinghouse Hill,

St Marks Area Main Street [near St Marks church/around Peabody Sq, hotdogs at noon in the Square],
Talbot Norfolk Triangle [meet at Elmhurst Park 10AM, Community Potluck Lunch at 12:30 pm, event organized by new TNT Youth Council].
Boston Shines supplies tools such as rakes, t-shirts, shovels, gloves and bags. Most groups meet around 9:00AM for coffee and doughnuts, then go out and clean local area streets. After the neighborhood is clean folks can head to public areas like a nearby Library to clean up. Afterwards some organize a cookout (i.e., SMAMS is having hot dogs in Peabody Sq at noon) for all those who helped with Boston Shines.
