Wake Up The Earth Parade | May 3

On Saturday, May 3 the Wake Up The Earth Festival will take place. This event was started by Spontaneous Celebration in 1979 and brings together Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, and other areas of Boston in an annual celebration of diversity, the arrival of spring, music and culture, popular theatre, the visual arts, and more. The Parade is a commemoration of the success these communities had in opposing the construction of 1-95 along the route known as the Southwest Corridor.

Residents, schools, community centers, and other throughout Greater Roxbury are invited to participate by wearing colorful costumes, displaying banners and artwork, dancing, drumming, and stilt walking. Discover Roxbury is marching from Elgeston to Stony Brook Reservation. Join ig you can, please contact Luis Cotto at eglestonsquare@gmail.com if interested.
