Uphams Corner Library: November Youth Programs

For ages 0-5:

Preschool Story Time, every Tuesday, 10:30-11:15 – We will sing songs, read books, be active, and make crafts together as we strengthen early literacy skills. Best for ages 3-5. If bringing a group of more than 5 children, please call at least one day in advance: 617-265-0139.

 

For ages 5 and up:

Papel Picado Craft, Monday, November 3, 4:00-5:00 – Come learn about Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, and make colorful skull tissue paper decorations.

ABC Twister Time, Wednesday, November 12, 4:30-5:30 – Test your flexibility and your alphabet knowledge with the library’s ABC Twister game. Win prizes if you’re the last one standing!

Drop-in Lollipop Flower Craft, Friday, November 14 – Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by making lollipop flowers that would impress Willy Wonka himself!

 

For ages 8 and up:

Fiber Arts Class, Thursdays, November 6 and 13, 4:30-5:30 – Taught by an expert Eliot School art teacher, kids will learn some basic skills of working with wool, cotton, yarn, felt, thread, and more, while making wonderful projects they can take home!

Day of the Dead Sugar Skull Face Painting, Wednesday, November 5, 4:00-5:00 – Test your creativity and painting skills by decorating your face or arm with a colorful sugar skull painting.

Laptop Lab: Logic Puzzles, Monday, November 17, 4:30-5:30 – Celebrate upcoming National Game and Puzzle Week by using the library laptops to test your logic skills with tricky online logic puzzles.

Ornament Making, Saturday, November 22, 12:00-1:00 – Start getting ready for the holidays with these homemade ornaments.

 

For all ages:

Homework Help Mentor Program, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 3:30-5:30 – Come get *free* homework help from neighborhood high school students for students in grades K-8. No registration required.

Lego Builders, Tuesday, November 18, 4:00-5:30, and Saturday, November 8, 11:00-12:30 – Come build anything and everything with the library’s fun Lego collection, including 35 Lego people and Duplos for younger builders.

African Dance Performance, Thursday, November 20, Time: TBD – Enjoy the amazing African dance skills of both children and adults from two local dance groups.

Friday Family Film: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate FactoryFriday, November 21, 2:30-4:30 – Continue the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the publication of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the classic movie bringing Willy Wonka and his amazing candy factory to life.

Drop-in Thanksgiving Craft, Monday-Wednesday, November 24-26 – Get ready for your Thanksgiving meal by making fun and easy place settings.

Board Game Afternoon, Friday, November 28, 2:00-4:00 – Come challenge friends, family, or a librarian to a board game or card game of your choice.
